What's the Status of Salt Lake City's Parks and other Public Lands?

As our community slowly starts to re-open following the initial Covid-19 outbreak, the rules regulating use of SLC parks and public lands will continue to change over the next few weeks.

Be sure to bookmark our COVID-19 webpage , where we will post the latest news.

Recent updates include:

  • Field reservations can be made for organized practices (no games), as long as participants can maintain at least 10 ft. of distance between eachother.
  • Most restrooms and drinking fountains remain closed.
  • Public Land Offices, including the Cemetery and the Regional Athletic Complex, are still closed. However, most services can be performed over the phone. Click here for our contact information.
  • The Tracy Aviary and Liberty Park Tennis are now open with new procedures to limit the risks of spreading the virus.

Visit our COVID-19 webpage for more details.
Allen Park Update

Salt Lake City recently purchased Allen Park using park-designated impact fees.

The park remains temporarily closed to the public in order to protect sensitive/fragile infrastructure while the city evaluates the property and works to stabilize and protect historic structures and artworks.

Public Lands' Trails and Natural Lands Division hopes that portions of the park can be opened to the public in July.

Stay tuned over the next few months for updates about upcoming public engagement opportunities regarding future uses of the park.
Popperton Park Trails

Public Lands anticipates that work will begin in June on the first of many trail improvements that were identified in the recently-adopted Foothill Trails Master Plan .

This project will involve constructing both walking and mountain biking trails in the foothills surrounding Popperton Park.

Check out the Popperton Park Trails Map to learn more information about these new trails.
Find Comfort at the International Peace Gardens

Next time you are at the International Peace Gardens ( 1160 Dalton Ave) , keep an eye out for this new hearth-shaped flower feature.

Within a few weeks, the center section will bloom and be full of beautiful pink flowers!

We hope that this beautiful flower bed can help you find comfort after what has been a very stressful spring season for most of us.

While you're there, be sure to post a picture on social media and tag us @slcppl!
