The Political Lives of South Asian Americans
The American Pakistan Foundation hosted a discussion with Dr. Sangay Mishra, the author of Desis Divided: The Political Lives of South Asian Americans to discuss his extensive research with Pakistani, Indian, and Bangladeshi-American communities across the United States.

This webinar discussed how class, religion, nation of origin, language, and other characteristics shape the individual and group experiences of the South Asian American community and how major events, like the 9/11 attacks, affect identity and community mobilization.

Dr. Mishra was joined in conversation by Dr. James Witte, Director of the Institute for Immigration Research at George Mason University and APF President Shamila N. Chaudhary who discussed APF’s research on civic engagement in the Pakistani American community.

Zehreen's in the Bay Area
By Mehwish Nasar
"Since Zareen and Umair Khan opened their first location in Mountain View in 2014, Zareen's has been a popular spot for diners on the Peninsula seeking homestyle South Asian dishes and a steamy cup of chai" (San Francisco Chronicle)

APF Leadership Council Member Mehwish Nasar visited Zareen's, a Bay Area restaurant serving traditional cuisine with a modern flair.

APF Research Fellow Noah Usman On Why He Joined APF

"I joined APF in March as a Blog Writer because I was frustrated with the misinformation leveraged against our community. The team’s willingness to accommodate diverse perspectives was so inspiring that I applied to join as a Research Fellow the following summer, and am now helping to develop strategies to study and spread awareness on civic engagement in the Pakistani American community. I have found it incredibly rewarding to disseminate new and underreported information to the public, and am thankful for the guidance that I have received from the entire team and to learn from their experiences."
Together, we will empower communities and build bridges.
Help APF expand its reach & impact in the United States and Pakistan.
