Sutter Street Weekend Closures Extended for Dining and Shopping
Dine al fresco and support our local businesses. Weekend Sutter Street closures will continue through the fall in Historic Folsom.

The closures allow restaurants and merchants in the Historic District to expand and welcome more diners and shoppers outdoors in Historic Folsom.

The road closures will take place from 2 p.m. Fridays through 7 a.m. Mondays. The Sutter Street closures create a walkable outdoor shopping and extended dining area for pedestrians only. Sutter Street features spacious seating, live music, and ambient lighting.

The closures are intended to help Historic District merchants and restaurants that have faced hardships during the COVID-19 pandemic and have a limited capacity within their proprieties to accommodate diners and customers safely with social distancing.

Virtual Community Workshop on Historic District Zoning
The City of Folsom is in the process of updating the zoning code, with the goal of creating clear expectations for quality development and regulations that are easy to understand and follow. A virtual community workshop will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23, to discuss a new proposal for zoning in the Historic District. The new zoning proposal would simplify zoning in the Historic District and reduce the multiple and often conflicting rules for this unique area. City staff will present the new proposed approach for zoning to the Historic District Commission at a zoning code workshop at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7. Staff will seek input and direction from the Commission. For information on the meetings and the workshop materials, visit www.folsom.ca.us/zoningcode.
Copper Pipe Pinhole Water Update
The City of Folsom continues its investigation into copper pipe pinhole water leaks and is committed to keeping our community informed.

The City hired a consultant with expertise in water quality and corrosion to work with specialists at Virginia Tech University to conduct detailed forensic analysis on sample copper pipes with pinhole leaks. In addition to the forensics analysis, Black and Veatch is conducting a detailed water quality evaluation to determine if there are any trends in parameters related to corrosion.

Results of the Black and Veatch water sampling and copper pipe inspections are expected soon. Black and Veatch and Virginia Tech University will provide an update to city staff on Friday, September 18 on their analysis to date. A full report of the data and findings will be shared once information is available, as well as recommended preventive and remedial measures.
