LEGISLATIVE ALERT
OPPOSE HB 1981
The ACEC OKLAHOMA Board of Directors has voted to OPPOSE HB1981 after the recommendation of the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for
Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors due to:

  • The military equivalence provision of this bill duplicates existing language that recently passed into law, which was thoroughly vetted by Professional Licensing Boards, occupations and trades within Oklahoma.
  • The language used within the bill creates confusion as it does not correlate to existing language used by Professional Licensing Boards regarding substantially equivalent credentials in other states.
  • The bill does not tie the new provisions to existing provisions in O.S. Title 59, Professional Licensing Act within Oklahoma law - which again creates unnecessary uncertainty and confusion for applicants, licensees, and regulatory entities.
  • The bill creates an additional level of duplicative legislative oversite which already exists within the Occupational Licensing Review Act and the Sunset Review Act.

HB 1981 is scheduled to be heard TODAY in the House Business and Commerce Committee
