Halloween Safety Tips & Events
Halloween is just around the corner and to get you in the spirit, Lake Travis High School Chamber Orchestra will present the classic 1922 silent film Nosferatu at the Activity Center tomorrow (Saturday, October 26) at 7pm. Take part in a vampire costume contest, judge a pumpkin carving contest and listen to a frightful performance. Tickets available at the door or online at laketravisorchestra.org.

For those preparing their costumes for the big trick or treat night, The City of Lakeway Police Department has some important tips to pass along:

  • Children under the age of 12 should not be alone at night without adult supervision. If kids are mature enough to be without supervision, they should stick to familiar areas that are well lit and trick-or-treat in groups. Make sure someone in the group has a cell phone in case of an emergency.
  • Have children wear reflective markings, carry a flashlight, or glow sticks so they can be seen.
  • Cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks. Always walk on sidewalks or paths. If there are no sidewalks, walk facing traffic as far to the left as possible.

Transportation Open House
The City of Lakeway Transportation Steering Committee is seeking input from the community during an Open House scheduled for Tuesday, October 29 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Lakeway Activity Center located at 105 Cross Creek .

This is a come-and-go style event, with an opportunity for the community to provide comments and input on a variety of potential transportation improvements throughout the City of Lakeway. Members of the Transportation Steering Committee and the city’s consulting team will be on hand to answer questions. The open house will feature a variety of stations with several potential transportation improvement options, which include possible roadway extensions, sidewalks and shared use paths.

Brush Recycling Tomorrow
Lakeway residents may drop off brush for recycling at the Public Works facility (3303 Serene Hills Drive) on Saturday, October 26, from 8:00 a.m. to noon. You must show proof of residency by bringing a utility bill and driver's license. Residents and property owners may dispose of one pickup truck load of yard waste or up to one 8' x 5' foot pile at no charge. Contractors will not be allowed to deliver for residents. Materials Accepted : Brush; tree trimmings; shrubs; palm fronds; leaves; oak trimmings (July 1 through January 31).

Materials Not Accepted: Lumber; pallets; scrap metal; construction materials.

NEW: Two Wildlife Open Houses Coming November

Learn about Lakeway Wildlife during two interactive Open House events. The first is scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 7 at 6:30 p.m. If you'd prefer an earlier time of the day, the second Open House will be held on Friday, November 15 at 9:00 a.m. Both Open Houses will be held at the Activity Center (105 Cross Creek) and will have the same presentations and information.
