WALKING IN THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST
When Jesus walked on earth He walked in the anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is very doubtful that he did any type of ministry until he was 30. That was the age that a Jewish man would become mature enough to become a priest. In Numbers 4:3 it says, “From thirty years old and above, even to fifty years old, all that enter into the host, to do the work in the tabernacle of the congregation.” To become the high priest of our salvation he had to adhere to scripture.
When Jesus was on the cross and gave up the Holy Ghost, he declared, “It is finished.” (John 19:30) This is indicative of his sacrificial offering. “…Without shedding of blood there is no remission (of sin)” (Hebrews 9:22). Jesus’ work in the flesh was finished on the cross, but he also had to go to the Father after the resurrection. He then put his blood on the altar in heaven which sealed his work, and it was complete.
Because sin needs sinless blood to be removed from our lives, it took Jesus’ blood to atone for our sins. When we receive Christ into our lives our sin is washed away. We now walk in the finished work of Jesus Christ. We are no longer under the bondage of sin because we have been born of incorruptible seed. (I Peter 1:23.) We now have two natures, the old nature that sins, and the new nature that does not sin. It is our choice to walk in the finished work of Christ or continue to walk in darkness in our old nature.
When we walk in the finished work of Christ we have the authority of the name of Jesus over sickness, lack, storms, and any other dart that Satan throws our way. We learn what our authority is through reading the word of God. Jesus told us in John 14:12, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” Now when we think of the works that Jesus did, they would include healing; cleansing; raising the dead; casting out devils; calming storms; knowing where the fish with the money is; and so much more.
This is walking in Jesus’ finished works. If you walk in anything less, you are truly missing out. He wants us to do these things my friends, but it takes a surrendered life to receive these promises. Take the time to listen to what Holy Spirit is guiding you in every day. Spend time reading your bible, and more than anything, walk in integrity and love. Then you will see things happen. Along with the good will be many attempts by Satan to stop you from succeeding, so make sure you keep your armor of God on 24/7. Don’t be deceived into thinking that everything will be easy, because that is a lie. Yet, God will help you on your walk. Trust Him.
