Across the continent, many cities are seeing the reemergence of streets that are congested with traffic and unsafe to those who do not drive.
Prior to the pandemic, New York had taken bold actions to:
- Repurpose streets and curb space for transit priority,
- Facilitate active transportation and bike-transit integration by building new infrastructure,
- Consider congestion-pricing as a TDM strategy and as a way to raise revenue, and
- Utilize transportation networks to enhance social equity.
