We are still learning how best to connect the generations while maintaining physical distancing. As programs are adapting and developing, we plan to share the promising practices emerging from the pandemic in each issue. Stay tuned for updates. Intergenerational Opportunities in the Older Americans Act 2020 Reauthorization
The Older Americans Act was reauthorized through the Supporting Older Americans Act of 2020 which was signed into law on March 25, 2020. The Act-which includes a series of bipartisan intergenerational provisions that Generations United helped champion-has been reauthorized through 2024. Our one-pager identifies the intergenerational opportunities that have been expanded or newly created through this reauthorization of the Older Americans Act. Learn more

We Came to America
This intergenerational project is partnership between the Thurnauer School of Music and award-winning composer/conductor/author Rob Kapilow, who's been commissioned to compose a multimedia orchestral/choral composition based on the theme of Faith Ringgold's book, We Came to America. They're looking for young and old willing to share their stories and feeling of coming to America. Learn more.

Last week, Generations United  and our Humans of Dementia partners ( Hilarity for Charity UsAgainstAlzheimer's AARP Memory Well , the  National Scholastic Press Association congratulated the winners of our Humans of Dementia Intergenerational Storytelling Contest.  We congratulate this year's honorable mentions. These touching, vibrant, and compassionate profiles create a beautiful mosaic of stories that gets to the heart of the dementia experience and above all, shows the love behind every human of dementia. Think Intergenerational - Funding Opportunities
 
Our Town Grant. This Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts supports projects that integrate arts, culture, and design activities into efforts that strengthen communities by advancing local economic, physical, and/or social outcomes. Cost share/matching grants range from $25,000 to $150,000, with a minimum cost share/match equal to the grant amount. Deadline for Part 1: Aug. 6, 2020. Learn more.

Internet Access Support for Students in 50 Cities. Mobile Beacon's Connect for Success Student Access Donation Program was created to offer schools in 50 cities across the United States the laptops and mobile Internet access they need to help students struggling to keep up.  Deadline: Ongoing.  Learn more and apply today.  

Grassroots Community Organizing in the Midwest Supported. The Needmor Fund's Core Grants program focuses on supporting grassroots community organizing in the Midwest. Support is provided to grassroots, membership-based community organizations that are democratically led, engaged in direct action campaigns, and committed to leadership development. Request for Proposals. RRF Foundation for Aging is accepting proposal applications for its next grant cycle. RRF recently completed a strategic planning process that sharpened their commitment and focused its grant making on four priority areas: Caregiving, Economic Security in Later Life, Housing and Social and Intergenerational Connectedness. This toolkit, developed by Generations United and the LeadingAge LTSS Center @UMass Boston with funding from RRF Foundation for Aging, is now a website with downloadable resources. It was designed specifically to help senior housing organizations plan and implement high-quality intergenerational programs that will benefit residents and young people in their communities. A Place to Call Home: Building Affordable Housing for Grandfamilies.   This sixth edition of the annual State of Grandfamilies in America report detailed the housing challenges these families face and highlighted innovative programs that offer potential for nationwide expansion. Learn more.
