“Emmanuel at Home” follows the ancient practice of Jewish and monastic tradition, which the Episcopal Church has long observed, of daily prayer. The service can be led by anyone and can be celebrated anywhere. It is particularly suited to those Sundays, when as a congregation we are unable to gather, and also includes optional blessings over food & drink. So, gather around your kitchen or dining room table, gather in your living room, on your balcony or in your beautiful backyard.
Though we worship apart, we are still One Body, in communion with Christ and one another. Feel free to share with family and friends!
Morning Prayer: Rite II
Seventh Sunday after Pentecost
Ordinary Time
The service continues with these sentences of Scripture.
I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go to the house of the Lord."
Psalm 122:1
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer.
Psalm 19:14
Confession of Sin
Let us confess our sins against God and our neighbor.
Silence may be kept.
Most merciful God,
we confess that we have sinned against you
in thought, word, and deed,
by what we have done,
and by what we have left undone.
We have not loved you with our whole heart;
we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves.
We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.
For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,
have mercy on us and forgive us;
that we may delight in your will,
and walk in your ways,
to the glory of your Name.
Amen.
Prayer of acceptance for God's forgiveness of our sins.
Almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us all our sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep in eternal life.
Amen.
The Invitatory
Lord, open our lips. And our mouths shall proclaim your praise. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever.
Amen.
Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness: Come let us adore him.
Venite
Psalm 95:1-7
Come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us shout for joy to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving
and raise a loud shout to him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the caverns of the earth,
and the heights of the hills are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands have molded the dry land.
Come, let us bow down, and bend the knee,
and kneel before the Lord our Maker.
For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture and the sheep of his hand.
Oh, that today you would hearken to his voice!
The Lessons
Two or more lessons are read, followed by a canticle
Canticle: A Song to the Lamb
Dignus es
Revelation 4:11, 5:9-10, 13
Splendor and honor and kingly power
are yours by right, O Lord our God,
For you created everything that is,
and by your will they were created and have their being;
And yours by right, O Lamb that was slain,
for with your blood you have redeemed for God,
From every family, language, people, and nation,
a kingdom of priests to serve our God.
And so, to him who sits upon the throne,
and to Christ the Lamb,
Be worship and praise, dominion and splendor,
for ever and for evermore.
Canticle: You are God
Te Deum laudamus
You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord; we acclaim you;
You are the eternal Father:
All creation worships you.
To you all angels, all the powers of heaven,
Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
The glorious company of apostles praise you.
The noble fellowship of prophets praise you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise you.
Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you;
Father, of majesty unbounded,
your true and only Son, worthy of all worship,
and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth;
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen
.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.
Prayers of Intercession
Show us your mercy, O Lord;
And grant us your salvation.
Clothe your minsters with righteousness;
Let your people sing with joy.
Give peace, O Lord, in all the world:
For only in you can we live in safety.
Lord, keep this nation under your care;
And guide us in the way of justice and truth.
Let your way be known upon earth;
Your saving health among all nations.
Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten.
Nor the hope of the poor be taken away.
Create in us clean hearts, O God;
And sustain us with your Holy Spirit.
Confident in God's love, we pray for the church, the world and all who are in need.
Amen.
God of the harvest, you sow the seeds of the gospel, giving growth to all that is good. Nurture within us patience, diligence, resolve and gentleness, that we may be faithful witnesses of the Word
. Amen.
God of all space and time, creation groans and awaits the gift of new birth. Renew the earth, sea, and sky. Instill in us an urgent and passionate concern for the preservation of the planet.
Amen.
God of the nations, teach us your healing ways, that we may walk in truth. Mend the fabric of the human family, torn apart by politics, culture, religion, and race. By your mercy, reconcile within our hearts the competing desires that keep us from loving neighbor as ourselves.
Amen.
God of the seasons, in the midst of summer, we ask for refreshment and renewal. After these long weeks of being inside, bless our backyard vacations and keep safe the people and places where we may travel.

The Collects
A Collect for Grace
Lord God, almighty and everlasting Father, you have brought us in safety to this new day. Preserve us with your mighty power, that we may not fall into sin, nor be overcome by adversity; and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
A Collect in Time of Crisis
O God, where hearts are fearful and constricted, grant courage and hope. Where anxiety is infectious and widening, grant peace and reassurance. Where impossibilities close every door and window, grant imagination and resistance. Where distrust twists our thinking, grant healing and illumination. Where spirits are daunted and weakened, grant soaring wings and strengthened dreams. All these things we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
Amen.
A Collect for Schools
Eternal God, bless all preschools, schools, colleges and universities, as they wrestle with how best to serve their students, protect their faculty and staff, reopen their campuses and teach online. May they remain lively places for sound learning, new discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom; and grant those who teach and learn may find you to be the source of all truth; through Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord.
Amen.
A Collect of Julian of Norwich
In you, Father almighty, we have our preservation and our bliss. In you Christ, we have our restoring and our saving. You are our mother, brother, and savior. In you, our Lord, the Holy Spirit, is marvelous and plenteous grace. You are our clothing; for love you wrap us and embrace us. You are our maker, our lover, our keeper. Teach us to believe that by your grace all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Amen.
A Collect for Mission
O God, you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth, and sent your blessed Son to preach peace to those who are far off and to those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you and find you; bring the nations into your fold; pour out your spirit on all flesh; and hasten the coming of your kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
The Offertory
Let us with gladness present the offerings and oblations of our life and labor to the Lord.
Amen.

Amen.
Over Bread
Blessed are you, O Lord our God; you bring bread forth from the earth and make the Risen Lord to be for us the Bread of Life; Grant that we who daily seek the bread which sustains our bodies may also hunger for the food of everlasting life, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Over Other Food
Blessed are you, O Lord our God; you have given us the risen Savior to be the Shepherd of your people; Lead us, by him, to springs of living waters, and feed us with the food that endures to eternal life; where with you, O Father, and with the Holy Spirit, he lives and reigns, one God, for ever and every. Amen.
The General Thanksgiving
Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made. We bless you for our creation, preservation, and all the blessings of this life; but above all for your immeasurable love in the redemption of the world by our Lord Jesus Christ; for the means of grace, and for the hope of glory. And, we pray, give us such an awareness of your mercies, that with truly thankful hearts we may show forth your praise, not only with our lips, but in our lives, by giving up ourselves to your service, and by walking before you in holiness and righteousness all our days; through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom, with you and the Holy Spirit, be honor and glory throughout all ages.
Amen.
Concluding Prayer
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
