Notes from Pastor AJ
I would like to ask you to take a few minutes over the next few days to complete the following and provide us with your feedback about
Our Sunday Morning Experience
.
Many of you know that I will be off for most of the summer. The goal was that I would complete my ¾ time ministerial contract between September and May and then have the time off for the summer to complete a hospital chaplaincy program. Given all that has happened in the world these last few months, I will not be able to complete a chaplaincy program but I will be spending time working on other educational processes as part of my UU ministers fellowshiping program.
I want to let you know that during this time I may be less present at meetings and Sunday mornings but I will continue to be available as always for pastoral care, conversations, and connections. I will be continuing our weekday morning meditations on Facebook and Youtube and I hope you join us there. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME if you have any concerns, needs or just want to chat and catch up. I am still very available! I really believe that connecting with each of you 1:1 of the most fulfilling parts of ministry.
I would like to remind you that I am available to chat, catch up etc. Please continue to schedule appointments, and calls with me. You can schedule a time via my
Google Calendar
or call/text me at 720-549-0531. I am available from M-Th for video and phone calls from 11am until 9pm. If you are not able to meet during these hours please let me know and I will be happy to schedule a time that works for both of us.

From the Board ...
COVID-19 related precautions are the new reality.
In light of the facts that COVID-19 has spread world-wide in an explosive manner and that hopes of an effective vaccine or appropriate drug therapy are unlikely to materialize for at least a year, we must recognize the reality that isolating infected individuals and minimizing close physical contact with one another are our only effective "anti-viral" measures and that these inconveniences will continue to be public health recommendations for many months to come. This stark reality was emphasized this last week by our national UUA President, Dr. Susan Frederick-Gray, with the recommendation that UU congregations begin planning for virtual operations through May 2021. This realization is painful because our congregations treasure the times we are together in person. Prairie is so fortunate to already have in place a vibrant program of electronic communications and on-line meetings. In the meantime, as we carefully increase our social and economic activities, we must continue to observe physical distancing, to avoid large crowds, to practice recommended hygiene procedures, and to wear masks in public. We hope that soon small gatherings, particularly ones outside, will be possible.

LifeSpan Celebrating Summer
The LifeSpan team is excited to kick off summer. We will be hosting family friendly gatherings the first Sundays in June, July, and August immediately following Fellowship.
June 7th: How do you show off Summer?
July 5th: Virtual picnic....what is your favorite summer food?
August 2nd: Virtual pet show and pet blessing
We need your help in getting this off "right".....and with a SPLASH! Next Sunday, May 31st we will have Learning Hour to talk about and record your favorite ways to get INTO summer. Maybe a favorite hat? A floatie for swimming? Who knows..... We'll feature the combined video on June 7th. You can share your thoughts immediately (and up to June 4th) via
Flipgrid.

PrairieUU should receive all mail at the PO box in Parker:
PO Box 1684
Parker, CO 80134
The old mailbox on South University will be closed out in June. Since the old box is in a package store, not a post office, mail sent thereafter June will not be forwarded. This change is most important for those members who have checks for pledges sent to the old mailbox; checks for pledges should be sent to the new PO box as soon as possible.

We are looking for a few people to help host some of our weekly/weekday events. A host is someone to simply login to the Google Meet at the start time and spend time chatting and what not with others who join the meeting.
If you can help host at any of our Morning Breakroom, or Afternoon Happy Hour times, please let us know.
