SAVING LIVES IN IRAQ WITH THE SISTERS
|
|
For nearly a decade, RWF has provided emergency assistance to LGBTQ refugees
from Syria and Iraq who have faced imminent threats in their homelands. RWF has ensured safe passage to dozens of endangered LGBTQ people to reach Lebanon where they can connect with the supportive community and begin the asylum process.
RWF recently received a grant from
The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence that will help two transgender individuals reach safety
. RWF founder Jeff Cotter is pictured above receiving the award check from The Sisters.
Donations to RWF covered the costs of airplane fare, food, basic needs, and housing for 2-3 months as the refugees await safe evacuation from the region and eventual connection to LGBTQ groups once they are in Lebanon.
