"IMAGES" PHOTOGRAPHIC ART GALLERY Newsletter
January 2020
"People": us!

Dear friends,

Welcome to my "PHOTOBLOG" Newsletter, a monthly publication which is being sent to clients and friends, to keep them updated on my current photographic interests, new works and future developments.

My goal is to format the Newsletter around a short series of images, which I will try to describe briefly, so that important or interesting details will be easily available to the viewer.

Most of the imagery displayed here will also be on view at       " IMAGES" Photographic Art Gallery,  located at 14406 Detroit Ave., in Lakewood, and I would be happy to extend to all an invitation to stop by sometime for a visit.

As always, I will appreciate your comments and suggestions pertaining to my work, and , should you enjoy these images, please feel free to share the "PHOTOBLOG" with friends  and others as well; anyone interested in my work could be easily added to my distribution list by contacting me at  [email protected]

or by visiting at www.mellinophotography.com.

 "People": us!
Welcome to 2020!
One of my photographic interests has always been "Street  photography": nothing like wandering around " somewhere", looking at the surrounding world and its people with an open mind and a curious eye, never knowing what I might see around the next corner...yet always realizing that " those " men and women out there walking through their daily lives are really "us" dealing with all the beauty, the difficulties and the unexpected moments inherent to our "life theater"! As I choose these images, I am attempting to portray every day "life" moments, with no intent to judge or be critical.

I am purposely starting up this month Photoblog  with a rather surreal " street " image, captured at the entrance of the Cleveland Theater District, where strangely no people are seen, to then lead us into streets and places where the human is the focus of the moment. I have chosen fun, strange, beautiful and sad human moments to share with you this time, all presented in B&W to take out of the images the distraction of color, thus hopefully enhancing the emotions and the meanings written on the faces of these "actors"...thanks for looking at this work, and, as always, keep in touch with comments or questions. In sharing the fruits of my search, I always hope to elicit a constructive, creative conversation with my viewer, which is the ultimate pleasure found in all that I do with my camera. So then...keep looking out there when you can!

A wide angle view of the "Oculus" in NYC with its constant inflow of "people" down into its cavernous bottom, from where they will be scattered in all directions at all times of the day...
Early lunch at Key West by the harbor...the ups and downs of life.
The amazing "hand" by the Ceveland MOMA, almost trying to grab the guy!

" People": us!
The " Uomo Uomo" guy, selling his wares at an Italian " mercato ".
A drummer and his band strolling down the street.
The balloons vendor.

Passers-by and NYC buildings reflected into a modern street sculpture.
The "Gladiator" taking a break in Rome, near the Trevi Fountain.
A jazz performance on Duval Street in Key West, with plenty of money hanging all over...

A daily exercise routine.

Lonely and tired...and sadly, probably no place to go.

An old man, cigarette in hand...did he also drink that Peroni?

Looking around in Nashville...now the babes have a question!
And the guys are patiently waiting...

" Beach photography" can be as fun and productive as "Street photography"...

In between, kids hanging out in Manhattan.

Next time you stop by at the Blackbird Baking Co. in  Lakewood to try some of their cappuccino and cookies, you will be able to take a look at Claire Patterson's vibrant, colorful and very " happy " acrylic paintings, currently on view until February 2020.

Still on view at "IMAGES" Art Gallery in Downtown Lakewood  a series of delicate and very " moody " paintings from Karen Perkovic, the Galleries Director at BayArts in Bay Village, along with many new photographic works of mine.

A small series of my photographs are currently on view at the White Clouds Studio in Lakewood, where I regularly bring new works to adorn its walls, for the enjoyment of the Studio's clients.
