Family Promise at Ascension
From May 19-26, Ascension will be hosting three or four families who are experiencing temporary homelessness as part of our outreach ministry to Family Promise of Knoxville. Many members of Ascension volunteer their time and services for various activities to help make the week successful. If you would like to be added to our volunteer list for this week or future weeks, please send an email to the coordinator, Barbara Corey, at barbaracorey@gmail.com. Volunteers help buy groceries, do laundry, greet guests and act as evening hosts from 5 to 8 pm, stay overnight from 8 pm to 7 am, and provide meals during three nights. We also rely on the Brotherhood to set up and take down the beds and arrange the rooms needed. This ministry provides families experiencing homelessness the shelter, food, and hospitality they need at a difficult time in their lives.
