Bette Orr is a professional watercolorist with over twenty years experience. She has an extensive background in art and design. Her loose contemporary style of painting has been termed as "vibrant" and "magical". She enjoys exploiting color in her luminous fluid paintings inspired by her own gardens and nature.

Crisfield High School Students will present the YES Stories Project. The YES Stories Project is part of the Water/Ways Programing & provides digital technology and skills for Students in our Community to explore local history and gain professional expertise by creating online stories. The Crisfield Heritage Foundation has worked with local Crisfield High School Teacher Brandon Austin’s 9th and 10th grade U.S History classes on the YES Stories Project. More information at

Maritime Heritage in Crisfield (A Road Scholar Program)

Sunday – Friday. J. Millard Tawes Historical Museum/Crisfield. Discover the colorful Chesapeake Bay and its isolated islands while learning about its cultural heritage, fascinating history and coastal maritime traditions. Learn firsthand about the bay’s active seafood industry, visit seafood processing sites, and experience daily life in the small working waterfront fishing town of Crisfield. Savor local meals in a variety of restaurants featuring a variety of seafood, including crab and fish. Classes are held at the museum overlooking one of Chesapeake’s largest public marinas. The show will open Friday evening, May 17th, from 6 pm until 10 pm. Light hors d'oeuvres will be served and wine will be available for sale. Saturday, March 18th, the show will take place from noon until 8 pm. Generous sponsorships from PNC and the American Legion allow this event to be free to the public.
Cash donations in lieu of admission are encouraged and will go towards funding to allow the Hangin' Out Art Show to remain free to the public every year.
This unique art show will allow artists to enter only one piece of work each. Artists may chose to display their work only, or to allow the sale of their work will have the option to sell their work with a percent of sales going to the Crisfield Arts & Entertainment District Project.
Deadline for artist registration is May 16

Artists participate in painting in authentic, beautiful Crisfield and the surrounding areas. This is a casual, non-competitive painting event, featuring a Welcome cocktail party at a private historic home, and a group nocturne.
SPECIAL PLEIN AIR EVENTS
Wednesday, May 22, 6:30-8:30pm - Meet the artists and watch them paint during the Sunset Paint Out at the City Dock. Artists will be setting up and painting in the area of the City Dock to capture one of our famous sunsets. Paintings are available for purchase.
Thursday, May 23 -ALL DAY - Artists will be on location in and around Crisfield.

Friday, May 24 - Artists paint on Smith Island with a pop up art show and sale at the Smith Island Cultural Center - Ewell
Saturday, May 25 - 4-7 - The fresh paintings are for sale at the Customs House during the 4th Saturday Bay Stroll. Credit cards are accepted.
Sunday, May 26 - 12-4 -The fresh paintings are for sale at the Customs House during the Soft Shell Crab Festival. Credit cards are accepted.

Make an art day of it! Catch a boat from Crisfield and meet us back here for the evening for the 4th Saturday Bay Stroll. The festival will take place at the Smith Island Cultural Center with outdoor artist tables, music, food, and a photo contest.
