For 24 years GCAPP has had a leading role as a convener and collaborator in identifying ways to support local communities’ efforts to improve the health and well-being of young people. This year we're being more intentional than ever.

We recently traveled to Bibb , Twiggs , and Clayton counties to discuss local concerns with educators, youth-serving professionals, business owners, religious leaders, parents, families, and others who are invested in the future of Georgia’s young people. Our listening tour in these counties has identified recurring themes, emerging trends and challenges facing young people , including but not limited to:
  • lack of awareness of available services for teens and families
  • social and emotional pressures and well-being
  • lack of structured activities for young people
  • struggles with acceptance and fitting in
  • parents feeling unequipped to guide their children through tough discussions
  • pros and cons of social media.
Over the last two months we have engaged 100 advocates in community conversations. We will work with the local leaders to identify strategies that align with their community concerns and collaborate around solutions. We are grateful for our partnerships with United Way of Central Georgia in Macon, Twiggs County Middle High School, and Main Street Community Center in Forest Park in assisting us with these amazing and important community events. Next stop, Cobb County!
