PTSA ANNOUNCEMENTS

Join the Madison Middle School PTSA Become a Madison Middle School PTSA member today! You will automatically become a member of the Seattle Council PTSA and Washington State PTA. Your membership, when combined with over 100,000 other members statewide, provides a powerful voice for children on educational issues. All parents, guardians, teachers, and staff are encouraged to join as paid, voting members. Students do not need a paid membership and may attend meetings as honorary, non-voting members. Our goal is 100% participation from the Madison Middle School community. Scholarships are available for those who cannot afford the PTSA membership fee. Volunteer for the Madison Middle School PTSA Board Becoming involved in the PTSA is a great way to stay engaged with your child's school. We have several PTSA Board positions this year that are open to any Madison Middle School parent or guardian. Co-officers for each of the positions are allowed: President Vice President, Programs Secretary Treasurer Legislative Liaison Please see the full position descriptions. Back to School Drive Part of the mission of the Madison Middle School PTSA is to provide classroom support when teachers need something beyond what is provided by their district supply budgets. Madison's teachers and staff are working extra hard this year to deliver effective instruction with limited resources. Your generous donations to the Back to School Drive allow the PTSA to boost numerous programs and needs in Madison classrooms. Funds for Families Drive The past 18 months have presented innumerable challenges for all of us, but the challenges are especially trying for Madison families already struggling to make ends meet, or those directly impacted by job loss or illness as a result of COVID-19.    Your donations to the Funds for Families Drive will allow the PTSA to continue to provide assistance to Madison families furthest from educational and economic justice.   With each day that passes under the pandemic, the number of Madison families requesting assistance has grown. Please give as generously as you can, today, to help more of our families put food on the table and provide for basic needs as they navigate this crisis.  Donate to the Funds for Families Drive

SPS NEWS

Start of School Forms Every year. SPS requests that families complete the Start of School Forms. You may print the forms and send them to school with your student or save the forms and return them via email to [email protected].

Technology Usage Agreement and Fee This year for the SPS 1:1 Student Device Program, families will need to sign a Laptop Device Agreement form and provide a $25 usage fee. Families can use School Pay to pay the $25 fee. Schools will work with families unable to pay the fee on an individual basis. Also, during the coming school year, if a student loses their device, a fine will be applied at the rate of $350 for laptops.

MADISON NEWS

Hello from Nurse Mindy If a student needs to take any type of medication during the school day, even if it is temporary, an Authorization to Administer Medication at School must be completed by the student's health care provider and signed by the parent/guardian. If a student needs a treatment at school, such as: G-tube feeding, insulin calculation, clean urinary catheterization, suctioning, nebulizer, dressing change, and others, please have the student's health care provider complete the Authorization for Treatments and Procedures to be Performed at School.

Middle School Athletics Middle School Athletics are scheduled to begin this fall with Girls Soccer and Co-ed Ultimate Frisbee. More information will be forthcoming about tryouts and practice schedules. Students can get a head start by completing the Student Athletic Registration & Physical Forms found on the SPS website. All paperwork must be received and students must be approved for play in order to try out for a sport.
