We will discuss The Unquiet Dead by Ausma Zehanat Khan. In Toronto, Det. Esa Khattak and Sgt. Rachel Getty work for the community policing section and are called in when there may be a sensitive aspect to a case. Investigating the supposedly accidental death of Christopher Drayton, the two officers soon uncover details that lead them to believe the man may have actually been a Bosnian war criminal involved with the Srebrenica massacre of 1995. With a large Bosnian refugee community in Toronto, the case is especially touchy. Mysterious, threatening letters that appeared on the victim's doorstep and the presence of a gold-digging fiancée add to the suspicion. As Khattak and Getty interview imams and neighbors and sort out what justice really means, they are forced to navigate the lingering effects of a horrible conflict and their own broken lives.

CLIO'S MUSE
A History Reading Club
Zoom Meeting Wednesday, August 26 at 7pm

We are reading two books by Marie Arana: Silver, Sword and Stone: Three Crucibles in the Latin American Story and Bolívar: American Liberator Feel free to "attend" this virtual meeting whether you finish both books or not.

Silver, Sword and Stone tells the timely and timeless stories of three contemporary Latin Americans whose lives represent three driving forces that have shaped the character of the region: exploitation (silver), violence (sword), and religion (stone).

Bolívar is the epic story of the famous South American general and statesman Simón Bolívar. He freed six countries from Spanish rule and is still the most revered figure in South America today.

Contact Diane DeChillo if you are not on the Clio's Muse mailing list.

Positive Reflections of Older Adults in Movies
It's not so easy to find movies about characters in the 60-plus age category, let alone ones that depict older adults in a positive light. Fortunately, some are available for free viewing on Kanopy and Hoopla attesting that seniors can indeed lead interesting and meaningful lives. From The Seattle Public Library. More
Summer Story Hours
This summer, Julianna is working on ways to keep children connected to the library and reading as we plan some virtual activities to keep them inspired with entertainment and incentives. The 2020 summer reading slogan and theme is "Imagine Your Story," a celebration of fairytales, folklore, mythology, and sharing your own unique story. more
