Plan for Reopening Orange County Facilities

Across the world, communities continue to face challenges amidst the global COVID-19 pandemic. Maintaining the health of our community and the continuity of government services during this challenging time is of the utmost importance. We have quickly learned to adapt to this new environment by conducting business virtually and teleworking, which are necessary measures to ensure the health and safety of our workforce and community.

The County is committed to significantly reducing the risk of employees and visitors spreading or being exposed to the virus in its buildings and workspaces. Some of the health and well-being measures taken by the County include requiring face coverings, practicing physical distancing, encouraging teleworking, having hand sanitizer available in all common areas, and enhanced cleaning practices. The Reopening Workgroup, consisting of internal staff members, verifies extensive protective measures are in place and have put together a plan for reopening facilities using a phased approach.

The COVID-19 pandemic is being closely monitored to determine when reopening facilities with full public access is safe. Several County departments and agencies have reopened in a limited capacity. We have provided the vast majority of our services to the public with little or no disruption.

The plan for reopening County facilities details our:

  • Business continuity strategy
  • Planning process
  • Buildings with the greatest public access
  • Building preparations and protective measures
  • Policies and procedures
  • Facilities that have reopened

Individual reopening plans developed by departments for their areas of business are also encompassed. These plans detail services that may reopen to the public, services that will continue to be conducted online, and the continuance of employee telecommuting and flexible in-office schedules where applicable. As the County continues the reopening phase, please ensure you are taking all necessary safety measures to protect each other and the residents we serve, including and especially wearing face coverings, frequent hand washing and social distancing. Please know how much I appreciate all you do for our organization and our community.
