HCAO and the Movement for Black Lives
Lakeeyscia: "I support Health Care for All Oregon because our health and wellness should not be capitalized on. Everyone deserves the peace of mind that comes with accessible health care."
Rachel: "I support Health Care for All Oregon because everyone deserves the chance to live fully with confidence in their health care."
HCAO stands in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives.

We all wear many masks and many are involved in racial justice work and some of us in the BLM movement. HCAO work strongly intersects with the BLM movent.

If and when we achieve our goal of implementing a universal healthcare system, we will have helped to achieve a dismantling of our current healthcare system, which is riddled with systematic racial inequities, and is a white supremacist structure. In addition, systemic racism causes many health problems related to socio-economic disparities and the impacts of toxic stress. Without addressing systemic racism these associated health problems will persist regardless of access to care. (As a member of the Fair Shot for All Coalition Oregon, recently endorsed the “Shared Narrative during Covid” which mentions healthcare 47 times. More in a future Newsletter.)

HCAO Endorses Ballot Measures 107, 108, 110
Get Out the Vote
• Requires the disclosure of political contributions and spending
• Limits campaign contributions and spending
• Requires that political ads disclose who paid for them
Oregon ranks nearly last of all states in access to basic drug treatment. This is a crisis. We need treatment not prison. Current laws and lack of access to needed care disproportionately impact People of Color.
Measure 108 would help prevent tobacco companies from hooking the next generation and establish the first tax on vapes in Oregon.

Tobacco companies are targeting youth with candy-flavored vapes like "Gummy Bear" and "Cotton Candy," yet Oregon doesn't tax vapes one penny.

HCAO is gaining supporters with easy to use QR codes. To get involved contact your local Chapter or mobilization@hcao.org.
