Survey: Are Owner-Mandated Vaccines Affecting Your Business?
As part of President Biden's "Path Out of the Pandemic" Plan, there is a November 1st deadline for complying with vaccine mandates. In the state of Michigan, many businesses are requiring contractors to provide vaccination status of workers prior to being allowed on a job site.

Some CAM members have expressed concern about mandated vaccines and their impact on the ability to execute projects, especially those that were bid in advance of this new requirement. Based on the survey results that have come in so far, nearly 70% of you have indicated that your business has been affected by vaccine mandates, and 67% say that the mandates have affected your ability to staff projects and meet deadlines.

Gov. Whitmer to Reinstate Prevailing Wage for State Construction Projects
Gov. Gretchen Whitmer recently announced that the State of Michigan will require state contractors and subcontractors to pay prevailing wage for construction projects. The move reinstates the prevailing wage requirement, which was repealed in June 2018 and ensures that any construction worker working on a state construction project receives a fair wage. “By reinstating prevailing wage, we are ensuring that working people get treated with dignity and respect, which starts with a fair wage,” said Gov. Whitmer.

A total of 24 states have repealed their prevailing wage laws. Michigan’s repeal eliminated the state’s prevailing wage requirement but left the door open for the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget to require prevailing wage under its authority to develop the terms of state contracts.
