A Year of "Firsts" For CSM

Dear Friends and Family of Camp Sancta Maria,

It's been a year of "firsts" for many of us this year. Maybe this was your first time working from home, or your first time schooling your kids at your kitchen table.

We've experienced many "firsts" here at CSM, as well. Of course, it was sadly our first year cancelling our summer season since our founding in 1933We sure have missed our campers, but we've made the most of it by planning and preparing for next year so the kids will have an even better experience at CSM in 2021.
Frassati Camp Scholarship

An exciting "first" to announce is the establishment of the Frassati Camp Scholarship.

Created as a donor-directed fund through the Catholic Foundation of Michigan by Michelle Kuhar, this scholarship will provide financial assistance to Black/African American youth to attend a week-long boys camp session at CSM each summer.

The scholarship is named in honor of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, a mountain-climbing, fun-loving outdoorsman. "Bl. Frassati's influence on my life and his tremendous example as a lay saint with a love of nature, the Eucharist, and practical jokes, makes him the perfect patron for young campers," Michelle reflects.

We thank you for your continued support of Camp Sancta Maria. As we thank God for our faith, we encourage you to continue to place your trust in God, knowing He is with us through every "first" we each encounter.

We continue to place CSM and our entire Camp family in the hands of our Lord and His Blessed Mother. Please keep us in your prayers, as well.

Thank you again, stay safe, and God bless you and your loved ones.

Warm regards,

John David Kuhar
Dad, Donor, and Executive Director

2020 Benefit Dinner
Cancelled
Although we're all doing our best to keep things as "normal" as possible, sometimes difficult decisions have to be made. We had to postpone our June golf outing and were ultimately able to hold it last month only because it was an entirely outdoor experience.

It is with deep regret, however, that we've made the difficult decision--out of an abundance of caution--to cancel our 2020 Benefit Dinner.

We're sure you're as disappointed as we are. We look forward each year to gathering with you in person and catching up, sharing stories about Camp, and breaking bread together. However, we're confident that cancelling this year's fundraiser is the right thing to do, and we thank you for your understanding during these difficult times.

Because we also had to cancel our 2020 summer camp sessions which are our primary source of income, many of our supporters donated their Benefit Dinner registration fee as a charitable gift. We are so grateful for and blessed by their generosity! Thank you!

Encouraged by their commitment to CSM we humbly ask, would you prayerfully consider making a donation to CSM, as well? If you are able to help us in this way, we would be most grateful. Please scroll to the bottom of this email to learn how you can make contributions to CSM.

Although closed to campers for the season, your generosity allows us to continue to cover overhead costs, make improvements at Camp, and plan for next summer when our campers can join us again for an even better CSM experience! Thank you for your prayerful consideration!

A big thank you to everyone who supported our 35th Annual Bud Campbell/  Fr. Bob Morand Golf Outing to benefit Camp Sancta Maria on Wednesday, August 19, at Greystone Golf in Washington Township!

The sun was shining, the temperature was perfect, and spirits were high as our guests enjoyed the beautiful grounds at Greystone, followed by a delicious dinner and fresh air in their outdoor tent.

Congratulations to our contest hole winners, including:

Women's Closest to the Pin: Laura Mastracci
Women's Longest Drive: Carla Schneider
Men's Closest to the Pin: Mike Karol
Men's Longest Drive: Jack Crusoe

Everyone was a winner that day, with the profits supporting our beloved Camp Sancta Maria. We are grateful for your support!
CSM is held in a trust governed by an independent Board of Trustees. While the Archdiocese of Detroit had generously donated the services of one its priests for decades, they are not responsible for CSM financially. This means that we are responsible to secure our own funding to advance the mission that has been passed down to us since our founding in 1933. To continue this essential work, we need your help. Are you feeling called to donate? Thank you for your prayerful consideration!

Camp Sancta Maria is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity. Our tax id number is 38-6086752. Donors may deduct contributions as provided in Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers and gifts under Sections 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Code.
