HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM RESTORING HOPE!

Home Away From Home For The Holidays!

Dear Friends,

As we gather to celebrate the holidays, we can't help but think of all the families who have passed through our doors since 2013 and given this house the unforgettable soul that makes Restoring Hope such a truly special place. You have always been the heartbeat of what we do and we have you all to thank for helping to make 2019 our busiest year ever for guest stays. Thank you for your friendship, for your loyalty, for embracing this house as your own, for the moments you were at your very best when another family was at their worst. Thank you for your generosity and understanding that as a non-profit, this house depends upon all of us. We hope you take great pride in what you all have had a hand in creating. Thanks for another incredible year!

To those who are so moved by our cause that they bless this house with the funding necessary to keep our doors open each year, you have our eternal love. May the miraculous stories you read and hear about be your greatest reward for your kindness and generosity...for none of this would be possible without you. There are so many of you from our Lions and Lioness Club friends to foundations, annual fundraiser events, clubs, community minded business and compassionate good neighbors. Please know how much we appreciate you!

Finally, as we celebrate a year full of miracles, we must also honor those we have lost during 2019. In the week leading up to Thanksgiving, we had two very dear families lose loved ones.  One, a beloved guest that had stayed here 65 different times in her battle with cancer.  And another man in his late 40's who leaves behind a wonderful wife and 3 school age kids.  It so absolutely breaks our heart, but you can also take some measure of satisfaction in knowing that those are the moments when this house is always at its absolute best when collectively embracing those that need it most.  Then, just as we were a bit mentally scarred from a difficult week, we get a call from a Menasha family in need of a place to stay as their father just received a kidney transplant for Thanksgiving after being on the waiting list for six years.  These are the types of miracles we see each week that your compassion and generosity helps to make possible!

May this be a joyous time for you all!

A New Kidney For Thanksgiving
Our Thanksgiving Miracle....

Our dad waited 6 years for a kidney transplant.  When we got the call to come to Madison the day before Thanksgiving we thought it would be yet another disappointment as we had driven here just a few months before only to be sent home due to an issue with the donor kidney.

Since the last time turned out to be a dud we didn't think about grabbing anything before jumping in the car for the 2 hours drive.  Thankfully this turned out to be a viable kidney and the surgery went off without a hitch.

When my sister and I arrived at Restoring Hope it was 11:30pm and we had nothing with us but the clothes on our backs.  We were welcomed with open arms and provided with a comfortable bed and everything we would need to get cleaned up in the morning.  There have been so many restless nights, ups and downs with the transplant, and more trips to the hospital than I would like to admit.  The stress of the situation and having to be away from home to care for our dad would have been impossible to bear if we chose to stay anywhere else.  I will be forever grateful for all of the wonderful conversations and the light hearted atmosphere of this house.

Thank you Restoring Hope Transplant House!!!!

"This is the very best house for transplant families to stay, so kind and loving and it is like being at home with family.  I love them!"

Give The Gift Of Hope This Holiday Season
Register To Become An Organ Donor Today!
While navigating all the stresses of the holidays and finding the perfect gifts, please remember that there may be no greater gift in this community of friends than to register as an organ donor this holiday season. We have a family staying with us right now that badly needs a transplant as soon as possible. There are so many of you still waiting on the list. It would be the highlight of our holidays if even one of you signed up to become an organ donor for the first time!  What a perfect holiday gift!

Register To Become A Bone Marrow Donor Today!
An anonymous young donor from the bone marrow registry helped our family through AML in 2018 to the point where we are still cancer free heading into the Holidays a year later.  It is a true life-changing service they provide that helps to give the best match possible for various blood cancers and other life-threatening diseases.

Please take a moment to check and see if there are any upcoming bone marrow registry drives in your area where you can register to be a donor.  It helped saved the life of one of our family members and one day could save yours!

As with any non-profit, these next couple months of year end giving are the most crucial ones for our long-term success.  These are the months that keep these doors open on an annual basis with your generous support.  The miracles and gifts of life you see on a monthly basis, the lifelong friendships that happen under this roof and the loving memories of those we shared a journey with are your gifts to the transplant community.  But make no mistake, the $45 per night we charge our families in need that includes a home cooked breakfast for all each morning is nowhere near enough to offset our costly operating expenses.

If this house has been a blessing to you and your family throughout your journey or the stories of our families have touched your heart and soul, please make a secure online donation today via PayPal or mail today.  Together, we have the resources and compassion to sustain this house for many years to come, but we need your collective financial support to further our mission.  We appreciate your friendship and generosity and would also love to hear your stories, Restoring Hope memories and updates!
