Face Coverings Required at All Businesses
All employees and visitors to Tarrant County businesses, including those in North Richland Hills, will be required to wear face coverings or masks to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This requirement begins at 6 p.m. Friday and will run through 6 a.m. Aug. 3.

County Judge Glen Whitley said the executive order requiring masks in public places is necessary because Tarrant County has seen a 52% increase in new COVID-19 cases, a 67% increase in hospitalizations and a 14% increase in deaths over the past 2 weeks.

“We believe that masks are our best alternative at this time,” he said, emphasizing that he does not want to return to the restrictions instituted in March.

North Richland Hills' First COVID-19 Death Reported
It is with much sadness that we share the loss of a North Richland Hills resident to COVID-19. While health privacy limits the details that can be given, we have been informed that this resident was a man in his 40s with underlying health conditions. Our prayers are with his family and friends during their time of grief.

Since the pandemic began, 161 North Richland Hills residents have tested positive for coronavirus and 77 have since recovered. Now, as we mourn our first loss in NRH, new coronavirus cases and hospitalizations across Tarrant County and Texas are increasing at an alarming pace. In the days ahead, we cannot let our guards down. We need everyone to be vigilant with taking precautions to keep yourself and your families safe. Even if you are young and otherwise healthy, you should take precautions to help protect those around you. Stay home as much as possible and when you must go out wear a face covering, maintain six feet of distancing from others and wash your hands often. We are all in this together and need everyone doing their part to stop the spread.
