SDEIS Professor’s Idea Selected for a LIFT2 Grant by LSU Board of Supervisors

SDEIS professor Andy Schwarz proposed one of 18 new ideas that the LSU Board of Supervisors chose to support through its Leverage Innovation for Technology Transfer, or LIFT2, grants. Schwarz was awarded a $50,000 grant for his proposal titled “Making learning fun: Developing an interactive cybersecurity game for undergraduate education.” The board funded a total of $999,981.14 in the last fiscal year to provide a bridge over the critical gap between basic research and commercialization for university faculty.

LSU Accounting PhD Alumna Named New ULL B.I. Moody III College of Business Dean

E. J. Ourso College of Business PhD alumna Linda Nichols was recently named the new dean of the B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Nichols was previously the dean of the Collins College of Business at the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma. She joined the Tulsa faculty in 2011 as associate dean, director of Graduate Business Programs, and an accounting professor.

Four LSU E. J. Ourso College of Business faculty were awarded promotion and tenure.

  • Haitao Mo - promoted to associate professor with tenure – finance
  • Qiankun Zhou - promoted to associate professor with tenure - economics
  • Suzette Caleo - promoted to associate professor with tenure - public administration
  • Wei-Ling Song - promoted to professor - finance

Their professional milestones signal outstanding accomplishments in teaching, research, and service for which LSU is known. All promotions were effective beginning August 15, 2020.

Looking to hire LSU students? Register for the virtual Business, Government and Nonprofit Career Expo. Students and alumni interested in careers in business, government, and nonprofit sectors will attend this event to learn about potential employers, internships, co-ops, part-time and full-time positions.

Fall 2020 Career Expos will be offered in a virtual format, hosted by the LSU Olinde Career Center through the Easy Virtual Fair online platform. All students, alumni, and registered employers will receive access to training and tips for virtual career event success in advance of the event.

Tuesday, September 22 from 10 a.m.—3 p.m.
Early entry from 9—10 a.m for employers who are Gold and Silver Corporate Partners, students and alumni.
