HIGH SCHOOL RETREAT

IS took an innovative approach to the annual high school retreat. It was held on campus over a two day period with outdoor activities to keep the masked 9th12th graders engaged and active. Students were assigned to teams made up of the 4 grade levels, and each team represented a country for the kickball tournament. If they were not playing kickball, they did dexterity challenges, coordination challenges (pickle ball and spike ball), art poster design and implementation, and Olympic Village games. A big thanks to Lee Holt and Tamara Truax for leading and to all the teachers, staff and parent volunteers for making this a fun event to kick off our school year!

DELETING OLD EMAILS IN YOUR PARENTVUE ACCOUNT

Tired of seeing last year's (or even further back) email when you view your student account in ParentVUE? Well, there is a way to delete them and start fresh this year.

Sign into your ParentVUE account. Select your student, and click on Synergy mail. Click on Inbox to display all your email. On the upper left corner, click on the empty square to select every email. Uncheck the emails you want to save. Then, click the wastebasket that appears to delete all checked emails, and there, it is empty of all the emails you wanted to delete! Any questions, contact Secretary@isptsa.org.

STATE TESTING UPDATE

As families may recall, state tests for English Language Arts (ELA), Math and Science did not happen in Spring 2021. The state’s Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) decided that the Spring 2021 tests would be postponed until Fall 2021. This Fall from September 27 through November 10, all schools will be administering state tests to students in certain grade levels:
  • Smarter Balanced (SBA) ELA and Math tests
  • Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS)
The SBA and WCAS tests are required for state and district accountability, and the results will also provide valuable information on students’ progress for parents, guardians, and teachers. During the Fall 2021 testing window, students will take tests at their 202021 grade levels. For more information about the tests and the tests each grade level will take, see the Bellevue School District webpage.

Questions? Email the BSD testing manager, Chris Lindberg, at lindbergc@bsd405.org.

FIRST ROBOTICS COMPETITION

FRC Interest Meeting:
THIS Tuesday, September 14 during lunch in the big gym

Parent Interest Meeting:
THIS Tuesday, September 14, 7–8 PM
ZoomMeeting ID: 845 9879 6756

Interested in gaining practical, hands-on experience with STEM education? Join the Titan Robotics Club FRC team!

FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a high school robotics program in which students work alongside adult mentors from industry to design, fabricate, build, and program a human-size robot in six weeks. With that robot, they participate in a series of competitions on the state, regional, and national level. Besides mechanical and programming, our club also supports media, business, and outreach teams, allowing people of all different interests to develop and apply diverse skills. Titan Robotics FRC Team 492 has been greatly successful since its founding in 2000, often advancing to the world championships and making a profound impact on International School students.

We are holding an FRC interest meeting Tuesday, September 14th during lunch in the big gym. All high school students are welcome, regardless of prior experience. Additionally, an interest meeting for parents and students who can’t make our lunch meeting will be held that night, Tuesday, September 14, 7–8 PM, on ZoomMeeting ID: 845 9879 6756.
