Back to Worship Survey - We Need Your Input!
Friends, we are looking forward to offering some in-person worship opportunities in July, in accordance with diocesan policies. Although these plans could change, based on shifting information about the pandemic, we are making arrangements for exactly how we will gather when the time comes.

We need your input, as we make these decisions, and encourage you to fill out the survey linked below. Your responses will help the staff and Vestry determine the best way to proceed. We will take survey response and diocesan guidelines and create a specific plan and timetable for Christ Church. It is our intent to communicate that plan in the coming weeks, at least two weeks before any return to in-person worship. Thank you for your help by filling out this important survey.

Please help us by sharing your opinions and thoughts in the survey  HERE.
Worship This Week

Please join us on Sunday, at 9:15 am, for online Morning Prayer with music, which will be available  on the Christ Church Facebook page here , on our YouTube page here , or the Christ Church website here .

Evening Prayer

If you enjoy hearing Evening Prayer read, please look for it at 5:00 pm on the Christ Church Facebook page here. The Rite I bulletin for evening prayer can be found here. The Rite II bulletin for evening prayer can be found here.

Daily Morning Prayer, Wherever You Are
Start your day and lift your spirits each morning by reading Morning Prayer. If you're at home and have your prayer book handy, find a quiet spot, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and select Morning Prayer I (BCP page 37) or Morning Prayer II (BCP page 75) and begin. If you're away from home, you can find the Book of Common Prayer at https://www.bcponline.org and the Scripture and Collects of the Day at http://lectionarypage.net.

Father's Day Celebration
We celebrated Father's Day this past Sunday during 9:15 am Morning Prayer, with photo presentations of our dads, granddads and the special men in our lives. If you missed the service, or would like to see it again, you can find it  HERE . If you'd like to see the full collection of all the photos, to see which father belonged to whom, the album is available  HERE .

(Many thanks to all of you who sent in your photos! Thanks to your great response, you proved Fr. Tom wrong, when he teasingly complained that fathers didn't get as much appreciation as mothers!)

Worship Music - Joyful Noise Music Ensembles

Greetings Friends!

NEW form of music program is blossoming that will get us sharing musical fellowship in a different way, until the day comes when we can sing/ring and worship together again. If you have been in a vocal choir, I encourage you to give these ensembles a try. There are elements of music theory in each of these ventures, and of course fellowship is a key asset. Please note, if things change and stricter orders are issued to distance further, the program will go on hold immediately.

Here is the scoop-
There will be a rotation of 4 ensembles consisting of six people, including me. (NO SINGING)
Team 1 will be Adult Handbell Ensemble
Team 2 will be Mixed Handbell Ensemble
Team 3 will be an Orff Schulwerk Ensemble (Xylophones, Glockenspiels)
Team 4 will be a World Music Ensemble (Drumming and percussion)

A Participation Log and Temperature Check  will take place at the start of each rehearsal.
Rehearsal times of the ensembles will vary  and follow social distancing guidelines.
At the start, I will group by age  and let the program evolve from there.
All rehearsals will be in the Parish Hall . I've coordinated with Parish Administrator Glenn Queener and Susan Shipman regarding social distancing and Backpack Buddies.

Target start is Wednesday, July 1/Thursday July 2.

Five people in the ensemble will each have their own Handbell Table on wheels and a chair.

Once a Team is prepared, we will video their work for our online services and offer their work during a service once we start worshipping.

Everyone is invited to participate . My goal is to get folks together safely, make music, and share fellowship. Please contact me at [email protected] if you are interested in participating.

Learn more about this book in the review below.

The New York Times best-selling book exploring the counterproductive reactions white people have when their assumptions about race are challenged, and how these reactions maintain racial inequality.

In this "vital, necessary, and beautiful book" (Michael Eric Dyson), antiracist educator Robin DiAngelo deftly illuminates the phenomenon of white fragility and "allows us to understand racism as a practice not restricted to 'bad people' (Claudia Rankine). Referring to the defensive moves that white people make when challenged racially, white fragility is characterized by emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and by behaviors including argumentation and silence. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium and prevent any meaningful cross-racial dialogue. In this in-depth exploration, DiAngelo examines how white fragility develops, how it protects racial inequality, and what we can do to engage more constructively.

Mission
and Outreach

Backpack Buddies - The Mission Continues

The Christ Church Backpack Buddies continue their weekly mission to feed the most vulnerable citizens of Glynn County, including children, homeless teenagers and the elderly. We are so thankful for our generous sponsors and our committed and caring set-up crews, packers, drivers and delivery volunteers, who keep this important outreach project going week after week! THANK YOU!

This week, we're in need of paper bags again (there's a nationwide shortage!) and fruit for the children. They especially love applesauce in either cups or pouches. If you can help the Backpack Buddies with a few items, here's our entire wish:

*   PAPER GROCERY BAGS
   (With or without handles!)
* Applesauce Cups or Pouches
* Fruit Cups
* Snack-size Raisins
* Snack-size Craisins
* Plastic Grocery Bags

We are alway grateful for your donations! Any and all items may be dropped off on the front porch at the Christ Church Parish House.

If you would like to help the Backpack Buddies ministry with a monetary donation, it would be greatly appreciated. You can donate by check (just mail it to Christ Church, at 6329 Frederica Road St. Simons Island, GA 31522 - check memo, Backpack Buddies) or give online  here  (choose Backpack Program).

For more information about the Backpack Buddies program, please contact Susan Shipman at [email protected].
ECW Grants Announced - Good News Worth Repeating!
Who are those masked women?! Why it's (L-R) Beryl Blatchford, ECW Treasurer; Susie Henning and Tami Black, TOH 2020 Co-Chairs; and Kathryn Saunders, ECW President
The Christ Church ECW is proud to announce the award of $35,000 in grants this week to area organizations. The proceeds are the result of the generosity from Tour of Homes patrons, sponsors, donated 2020 Tour of Homes ticket sales and ECW's Christ Church Frederica Cookbook sales.

"Although it is unfortunate the 67th TOH had to be canceled, we are most grateful for the tremendous support shown by our church family, homeowners and dedicated volunteers," commented Susie Henning, this year's chair.

"We were most concerned about our beneficiaries and the challenges they will face with reduced funding. It is our hope the grants will help make a difference," Henning added.

Twenty-eight local programs will receive grants this year. The complete list can be found HERE.

We would like to thank the ToH committee, patrons, and homeowners. A special acknowledgement goes to our generous sponsors: Platinum Sponsor (DeLoach Sotheby's International Realty), Silver Sponsors (Restoration Imports, RIghton Books, Clearview Exterior Washing & Window Cleaning) and Bronze Sponsors (Empire Sky Co., Seaside Eyes) Sponsors; along with our Benefactors: (Patrons, Supporters, Friends, Angels) and ticket-purchasers who chose to convert their purchase to a donation.

Christ  Church and the ECW would also like to extend a big thank you to Co-Chairs Susie Henning and Tami Black and the dedicated TOH team for all their hard work in putting together the 2020 Tour of Homes and then for dismantling it quickly and as painlessly as possible.

If you'd like to look back to see so many of the good folks who volunteered to help with this year's tour, check out the 2020 Tour of Homes Kick-Off Party photo album HERE.
