Altar Flowers Suspended

Because, like so many other small businesses, Dalton Flower's has to close as a non-essential business we will not have altar flowers for at least the next 30 days. We had been showing them next to Pastor Aaron in the online worship service.

Feeding the Homeless

Due to Covid-19, our scheduled effort to feed the homeless will be re-evaluated for the month of April.

Help Needed for our Special Holy Thursday Worship

We need 5 readers who can video themselves at home performing a short dramatic reading. Here are the parts:
1) Mary, Jesus' friend - need a container to pour some olive oil
2) Simon Peter, disciple of Jesus
3) Judas, disciple and betrayer of Jesus
4) Mary, mother of Jesus
5) Salome, follower of Jesus (Also has a reading for Easter morning)

If you'd like one of the parts, email Pastor Aaron right away with which one you'd like (aaron.roberts@colonialucc.org).

Holy Week Pilgrimage Walk

Many of us are finding taking walks as a way of getting through these days. A pilgrimage is an ancient expression of faith. So, this year during Holy Week, Colonial Church is going to be a pilgrimage site. At some point next week - perhaps on Good Friday - walk or drive over to Colonial Church and go through the circle drive out front. We will have prayer stations setup - you'll see the signs - for you to pause and reflect on your journey. Please observe physical distancing during your walk.

Colonial Care Partners Featured

Colonial's Care Partners program has been featured on local news over the past few days. KMBC-TV did a report on the 6:00 p.m. news on March 31. On KMBC, Pastor Aaron and Jayne Quimby were interviewed. Watch the report here

Our community partner article on the program was recently in the Shawnee Mission Post. You can read the Post article here.

You can still sign up for the program at https://tinyurl.com/colonial-care-partner. You'll be paired with another person to check on every 48 hours. This is not just for people in the church community, but anyone. So share this widely. Because, as we often say: We're Better Together.

Church Building Is Closed

As of now, the church building is closed and all meetings are canceled. Contact the church office if you have questions.

Giving at Colonial

Even though the building is currently closed at Colonial, we are still picking up mail everyday. Counters will not be counting as often, but will still be making deposits.  Therefore, you may mail in your pledge checks, One Great Hour of Sharing, or any other payments and they will be processed.

An easier alternative is to send payments online.  You just fill in your banking information ( routing number and account number ) and your name and email and what fund you are paying ( Stewardship, food pantry, etc.) and the amount.

The link you use is https://colonialucc.breezechms.com/give/online

If you have any questions, you may email or call Heather in the office or Jayne Quimby, Financial Recorder.

Food Donations

The need for food is greater than ever. Please be generous. Monetary donations to Cross-Lines Community Services are always welcome since we can't fill the red wagon at Colonial each week.  Those living in the Shawnee area can deliver their food donations to Shawnee Community Services on 67th Street just west of Nieman Road.

Thursday Morning Hebrews Bible Study

Many Jewish Christians of the first century were regarded by still-skeptical family, friends and neighbors as dangerous, misguided and even disloyal to God. The letter to the Hebrews was written to show that you can't go back to an earlier stage but must press on eagerly to that is yet to come. Our weekly studies will be based on NT Wright's materials, we hope to find encouragement and assurance that pressing on, even in the face of such close and constant pressure to fall back, is its own reward.
Observing our sacred duty for social distance, we'll be meeting exclusively online - at least initially. From March 26-April 16, we'll meet at 10:30 a.m. online at https://zoom.us/j/8796465039 or call in by dialing (669) 900-6833 with Meeting ID: 879 646 5039
