SCHOOL LUNCHES

School lunches are underway! The October menu will come home in family folders two weeks before they are due. Please remember that lunches are
pre-ordered one week before they are delivered so lunch forms need to be turned in on time.

If your child forgets their lunch, they will be provided with an emergency lunch.  This will include:  Uncrustable, chips and a drink.  Your Tuition Express account will be charged $4.25 for the lunch.

Lunches are not billed until the end of the month so the students can try the lunch items and decide if they like them.  Little taste buds sometimes think they will like something and then don't.  If that is the case, email Ms. Patti at Pharmon@familyofchristtampa.com or call her at 558-9343 Ext. 118 and she will take it off your child's order.  In addition, if you would like to add an item to your child's menu, you can do that too.

Middle school students are no longer permitted to use the microwave in the Narthex because of Covid concerns.

WATER BOTTLES
Don't forget to send your child with a water bottle every day to school.

If your child forgets their water bottle, they may purchase a water bottle for 50 cents from the school office.

Please put 50 cents in your child's pencil case for this emergency.

BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION
Box Tops is changing to fit today's families. The new and improved Box Tops mobile app uses state-of-the-art technology to scan your store receipt, find participating products and instantly add Box Tops to your school's earnings online.

EARLY SIGN OUT

Please refrain from signing out your children after 2 pm unless you have an appointment. The end of the day is as important as the beginning of the day, so children should stay in class.

MEDICATIONS

ALL MEDICATIONS brought to school must be in their original containers and labeled with the student's name in permanent marker. In addition, for medicine to be dispensed, a Medicine Authorization Form must be completed in the school office.

 Authorization For Medication

NO MEDICATIONS should be left in student backpacks. This poses a danger to other children.

BIRTHDAY MARQUIS SIGN

If you would like your child's name on the sign at the front entrance for their birthday, please fill out the Birthday Marquis form. The cost is $10.  Forms are available at the school office and can be sent home with students.

VOLUNTEER HOURS

Since volunteer opportunities will be limited this year, we would like to invite you to purchase Clorox/Lysol wipes or spray for our school. Each item will be worth one hour of volunteer time.

Thank you to our parents who have already donated.

MAKING MAGIC/AR GOALS
Live students will receive a "Making Magic" slip when noticed by a teacher or staff member doing something good for another student. Remote learners can earn a slip for going the extra mile during zoom. Those slips will be collected at the office and names will be drawn each week at chapel.  Students whose names are drawn may visit the elementary or middle school treasure boxes for prizes.

Students who meet or exceed their AR Goal will have their name put in a drawing for a $5 Barnes & Noble gift card.

TORNADO & FIRE DRILLS
We have fire and tornado drills throughout the year.  Each month we have a fire drill.  Tornado drills take place twice a year.  Students are prepared by their teachers before these drills occur with age appropriate language.  Please speak with your child about the importance of these drills.

This year's Walk-A-Thon will be Friday, October 30th.  Information will come home in family folders soon.

CHICKEN BISCUITS
Chicken biscuits start Thursday, September 10th.  There are NO chicken biscuits this week.

A BIG THANK YOU

A special shout out to all the families who helped with the desk shields.  We couldn't have don it without you.

NIGHT OF KNIGHTS PRIZES
You may have noticed that some cars pull in front of car line or have a particular parking spot.  Those privileges were paid for at Night of Knights.  You too can bid for those items in the spring.
WEATHER REMINDER

We wanted to make our families aware that if there are any school closings due to weather, Family of Christ Christian School and after care follow the Hillsborough County School cancellation schedule.

Our families were invited to meet in the front of the school as Angela and Joel P. (parents of Spencer, 6th grade) lead us in a prayer walk to pray for our school year, safety, classes, staff, and students.   It was a beautiful event.
  FAMILY FOLDERS
Every Thursday your Family Folder from the school office will come home.  Please feel free to decorate the cover  with pictures and artwork and make it your own.  All school paperwork will be included in this folder to prevent a trickle of papers throughout the week.  Please return the folder and its contents back to school on Friday or the following Monday so it may be sent home the following week  on Thursday reloaded with materials. Our remote students will have two folders that we alternate with their school materials on Fridays.

In addition, if you own a small business or would like to distribute flyers for an event please stop by the office to get it included in family folders.

YEARBOOK PHOTOS
Students will have their yearbook picture taken on Thursday, September 17th.  We ask that all students wear their BURGUNDY

uniform shirts  for these photos.   If your student doesn't have a burgundy shirt we will put one on them the morning of the photo. Social distancing practices will be followed. Remote students will have their photos taken at a later date.

 RECYCLE BIN
FOC continues  to be environmentally conscious by recycling cardboard/paper.

What do we recycle?
*Clean Newspaper  *Phone Books  *Soft Books  *Cereal Boxes  *Construction Paper  *Office Paper  *Magazines  *Mixed Paper

The bin is located at the back of the  parking lot, near the soccer field.

If you recycle, please break down your boxes before putting them in the  bin.

MORNING DROP OFF

Elementary parents please be mindful that middle school starts at 8:10 am.  Middle School students are being dropped off in car line between 8 and 8:10 am and may be late for class if the car ahead of them lingers in car line.  We will continue to take temperatures in the morning which adds to the line.  Please drop your child off closer to 8:15 am so our middle school students make it to class on time.

INTERNET SAFETY

Family of Christ Christian School has put an internet filter in place for every computer on our network.  The "Student" log-in ID is set at an age-appropriate school setting and has the highest blocked categories of content.

In computer class,  internet safety is discussed throughout the
school year.  There is an activity called "Cyber 5" that
students in Kindergarten through fifth grade watch.  The link is:

Afterwards, there is a discussion on ways to stay safe on the internet and how to behave on the internet.  As Christian students, the Fruits of the Spirit  qualities are stressed as well as their internet manners. They should behave just like being face-to-face with someone in a conversation.

For middle school students, we discuss technology skills every student should have and this includes Netiquette (Internet Etiquette) and Internet Safety and Security.
