Wrapping up 2019

As the year wraps up, we are grateful to reflect on the many accomplishments that Loisaida Inc. has been able to accomplish in collaboration with our community of makers, artists, creatives, and learners. Some of our initiatives include:

MONTHLY SENIOR DAY

We are thrilled to jump into a new decade with our community and supporters! In the New Year we are excited to launch new initiatives in new media and technology.

Help keep our community and programs thriving into the New Year:

¡We wish you all una Feliz Navidad Y Año Nuevo!

Check out our director, Libertad Guerra's coquito recipe from the Village Preservation archives!

"Puerto Ricans don't think in terms of Navidad (Christmas), but in terms of Navidades ('Christmases'), in the plural. Las Navidades last more than a month, and it is truly a time of merriment, fiesta, singing, dancing, and celebration. Islanders, like all groups that celebrate Christmas or other religious holidays, have many distinct plates exclusive to the season; coquito certainly has a privileged place amongst this Christmas cuisine. Similarly, Puerto Rico has music that is mostly enjoyed during las Navidades. You hear Navidades music in July, and strange feelings of disorientation, expectation, nostalgia, a countdown for December happens"
