Dear OLMC Parents,

Happy 2nd week of Advent!  I am delighted to share with you another update on our new lunch program.  The name of the new company our school we will be using is Campus Cuisine; this food service operates by partnering with local restaurant vendors who deliver food to the school.  So far, Chick-fil-A,, Jimmy John’s, McAllisters, Jet’s Pizza, and Papa Johns (more to come) will be the vendors delivering food to OLMC on a rotating basis. As I mentioned last week, our contract with Aladdin will end on December 20, and we will begin our new lunch program right after Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.   From January 6 (the Monday we return from Christmas Break) through Friday, January 17, all OLMC students will need to pack a lunch.  There will be no lunch served during the first two weeks of January, so every student must bring a lunch from home.  We will receive our first delivery of food through Campus Cuisine on Tuesday, January 21.

As it is to be expected, working with a new business brings necessary change to our daily cafeteria procedures. We will not be using Pay For It accounts anymore; rather, all of the food and drink in the cafeteria will be paid in advance. However, it is very important during this last week and a half of school for families to maintain a positive balance in their lunch accounts. We will be hosting an optional Parent Night in January to help parents set up their new lunch accounts. More details on that event will be communicated later.

I would expect that parents are wondering about what will happen with the remaining balances from families’ Pay For It accounts.  We recommend that parents use up their balances by December 20 as much as possible by purchasing school lunches before Christmas break.  We recognize that there will be many families that will still have a balance after December 20, so parents will have two options: either (1) the parents can request a reimbursement check, or (2) parents can donate the extra balance to the parish.  Unfortunately, we are unable to transfer funds from Pay For It accounts to new Campus Cuisine accounts.
If parents would like a refund from their Pay For It account, they will need to email [email protected]   by 1 pm on December 20.  If parents do not communicate their desire for a reimbursement by Dec. 20, we will assume that they want their remaining balance to be donated to the parish.

One of the amendments we will need to make as we initiate our new lunch program involves our parent volunteers.  For our scheduled parent volunteers on lunch duty, we request that they arrive at the school promptly at 10:30 am rather than at 10:40 am.  As we navigate through these new procedures, we want to be cautious and ensure that the transition to our new lunch program runs smoothly.  It is necessary that parents are present in the Parish Hall when the food is delivered. Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we ask you to arrive at school ten minutes earlier than usual.  I appreciate it!

Lastly, we are in need of parent leaders who will take charge of the lunch procedures of the day and guide the parent volunteers.  Because we will no longer have a kitchen manager, we will need two head volunteers per day who are committed to being the lead parent on that day throughout the school year.  For instance, two parents can commit to work together to cover every Monday throughout the school year; two more parents could cover Tuesday, etc. These head parent volunteers can collaborate on how to job share the weekday duties and develop a schedule that will be amenable to both of them.  The head parent volunteers would direct the other parents on lunch duty, and together they would ensure that students receive their respective entrees. These parent leaders would arrive at 10:15 am, and leave the school at 12:45 pm with the rest of the parent volunteers.  If you feel that the Lord is calling you to practice the virtue of stewardship through this donation of your time, please email [email protected] by December 20 and we will happily sign you up.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Gratefully in Christ and in Our Lady,
Sister Maria Benedicta, O.P.

Check the pictures to see if anything belongs to your family.

We strongly recommend putting names in all uniform clothing, water bottles, coats, hats, etc. Even if it is just a family last name - we do check and return items that are labeled!

Items are kept for several weeks and then donated to the Used Uniform Committee or the Merciful H.E.L.P. Center.
