Service dog classes will be held next week on Wed at 1230 at the lowes at Butler Plaza and then lunch if you wish at Tajuana Flats. Planning a service dog event to Busch Gardens in January so mark your calendars. If you are wanting to make your dog into a service dog and have a medical need (includes psychiatric need as well) then please attend these classes. My service dog students participation is strongly suggested.
No Saturday Morning class for two Saturdays. Your trainer is taking a much needed break to refuel. Taking time with my dogs and family. We will be back online on 11/27. Give me suggestions for some places. Want to try the Ocala horse park in December and do a field trip to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. There is an admission price for that and I am going to find out about a group rate.
I am looking for an office setting to train our service dogs in. (Dr. or vet office would be ideal.) If you know of someone with a clinical set up we can train dogs in that would be great.
CLASSES ARE FILLING SO PLEASE REPLY TO THIS EMAIL TO LET ME KNOW YOU ARE COMING.
Training tip:
The training tip this week is watch me. Hold a treat by your eyes and make gentle eye contact with your dog. Feed a tasty morsel. Repeat. Practice the watch me in several locations. Which location is hardest to get their attention? Does your dog stop eating. That means they are having trouble concentrating so go back to a place where they were eating and try again. Dogs do not generalize well so help your dog to build their concentration and focus on you. Be the most exciting thing in the environment. Use tasty food and rapid changes of direction to hold their interest. Don't forget your marker word of yes!
