West students who are eligible to be vaccinated and who have a completed and signed parent/guardian consent will have an opportunity to be vaccinated at school on the following dates and times:

First dose: November 12th 8am to 12pm
Second dose: December 3rd 8am to 12pm

Please see this letter (sent to you on Friday) for more info, and fill out the consent forms here.
Voter Registration
West High School, in collaboration with the League of Women Voters, will be hosting a voter registration fair after school by the Ash Steps on Wednesday, November 10th, from 3:40 to 5:00pm. Here is some basic information:

  • Students who are 18 and have a WI Drivers License or State ID should bring this documentation and (ideally) their Chromebooks so that they can register online. We’ll have student volunteers to help.
  • Students who are 17 but will be 18 before February 15, 2022 can register using a paper application (which the League of Women Voters will provide). The paper form, when completed, can be mailed to the CIty Clerk’s office or delivered to any Madison library. IMPORTANT -- students are required to include Proof of Residence, which could be a photocopy of their State ID/Driver's License, or a copy of a paystub or bank statement that includes their current home address. There are other forms which we can discuss with students at the event.
  • With advance notice, the student can request a Proof of Residency letter through our Counseling Office. This letter can substitute for other Proof of Residency Forms.

All 18-year olds should be registered to vote. Are you?

Where have all the real immersion programs gone?
I'm writing to let you know about our upcoming summer of youth program in Costa Rica. I think you'll find it's unlike anything else out there. Language is foremost about people and actualizing relationships. The joy is in the pure vividness of belonging to something greater. By elevating our social interaction, Spanish not only becomes part of us, it opens a new path towards a wellspring of friends and opportunity. True wellness after all, fosters healthy vibrant relationships. Contact me to learn more about our rural high school adventure in the green highland community of Costa Rica.
