Dear Parents-

Awarded last Wednesday to students in grades 1-7, was the Good Samaritan Award . This award is the highest honor a student can receive at SJS, and it is presented to those students who exhibit loving service to their peers. Book return is now scheduled Wednesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 18 from 9:00AM-11:00AM both mornings.  Please bag up any materials, library books, and textbooks that you have at home that need to be returned to SJS . Each child should put his or her materials, library books, and textbooks into a bag, seal up the bag, write YOUR NAME, grade and teacher on the bag. Each child needs his or her OWN BAG, so that materials can be accurately inventoried and returned to the proper classroom.

For the book drop-off, please follow the morning carpool route, and drop-off at the gym door.

On Tuesday, Gov. Northam announced that Northern Virginia moves to Phase Two of the Forward Virginia plan on Friday. In this phase:
     Stay-at-home for vulnerable populations
No social gatherings of more than 50 individuals
     Continued social distancing
     Continued teleworking
     Face coverings recommended in public
Further easing business limitations (these include guidelines for social distancing and disinfecting/cleaning within business setting)

Phase Two is expected to last at least two weeks, but potentially four or more weeks.
Also included in the Governor’s remarks on Tuesday was an initial discussion of the school reopening plan. Nevertheless, the school reopen plan is a phased approach, similar to the phased opening for individuals and businesses, and it is not possible to predict today which phase we will be in come August. You can read the comprehensive report, here:  Recover. Redesign. Restart

And so ends the 2019-2020 school year. I want to congratulate all students for your accomplishments and your tenacity...Great job, I am so proud of you! I want to thank all parents- you “got in there,” and supported this unknown process, and together we managed to complete the course of study for all our students. I thank all teachers for their commitment and hard work.

Please check the SJS website for information regarding summer assignments...a little light work just to keep skills sharp! Remember, this summer math assignments are on IXL. Find log in directions here . Once logged in, look for the suggested skills by your teacher.

I will keep you posted on all plans for 2020-2021 as they start to take shape. If you have any questions, please let me know. A little time away does everyone some good, so have a great summer, and we will see you soon!

If I can be of service throughout the summer, please let me know. We will see you back here, bright and early, Wednesday, August 26 at 8:00am!

I pray for the health and safety of our community.

Welcome one another...as Christ welcomed you!
