A Message from Superintendent Osei
|
|
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Governor Walz announced that the distance learning period will continue through the remainder of the 2019-20 school year.
He has also ordered that student instruction not be held on Friday, May 1 and Monday, May 4 to allow teachers to prepare for the remainder of the school year in a distance learning format. Emergency Childcare will still operate on those days.
School Principals, Program Managers, and Teachers are all working through creative ways to reimagine events and celebrations to honor students at the end of the school year. Schools and Programs will share updates about each event as plans are finalized.
Class of 2020 Parents/Guardians - you will receive a separate message this evening from Principal Meyers outlining end-of-year plans for graduating Seniors.
Please know that we are thinking about you and are here to support you and your students in any way we can. We appreciate your continued partnership and support of St. Louis Park Public Schools.
Astein Osei, Superintendent

This year will forever be a part of our story. The highs and lows. The games we won. The ones we lost. Best friends, teachers, classmates, crushes. The playlists. The pride. The people. Most of all, the people. We were here. Together. And in different ways, we all belonged. Someday we’ll look back on the images of the year which are in our yearbook. The moments meant something to us. The pictures will help us remember where we came from, how we felt, and who each of us truly were.
If you have not purchased a yearbook for your child, please click on the link below and order your copy today, before we run out. If you can’t remember if you purchased a yearbook earlier, please call Jostens at 1-877-767-5217 and press #1 for yearbook customer service

Staff Appreciation Week! Send a shout out to a teacher/staff member
|
|
May 4 - 8 is Staff Appreciation Week! Send a shout out to a teacher/staff member!
Hello Parents,
As we celebrate our wonderful staff who have continued to positively engage our kids each day, let's show our gratitude next week!
We're hoping you can take a moment and send an email to a teacher or staff member you want to thank -- or better yet, send a note to your child's entire teaching team! While we'd typically ask you to bring treats to share next week, not a lot is typical these days and our Middle School teams keep rising to the challenge!
Thanks!

Host Families Needed for Global Interns 2020-2021
|
|
The middle school has had another successful year with our two Global Interns, Carlos and Irene! They have been a great addition to our classrooms and have made many connections with our students. They continue to assist teachers during this time of distance learning choosing to stay here and help contribute to the school as well as the community. We are looking forward to the next school year with two more interns. One is Angela from Spain and we are currently interviewing candidates to fill the other intern position. We are looking for two host families for the fall semester-late August through the end of January and two more host families for next spring- late January through the end of the school year in 2021. The main requirement is the intern must have their own legal bedroom. It is a great opportunity for your family to learn about another culture while introducing them to Minnesota and our community in St Louis Park. You do not need to be a PSI family. All middle school families are welcome to host. The interns are also fluent in English. My family has hosted an intern the last two years and had great experiences with lasting friendships. Please reach out to me if you are interested or have questions.

Support the Class of 2020
|
|
The St. Louis Park Public Schools Foundation is launching a community-wide effort to celebrate our seniors. Show your Park Pride for the class of 2020 by planting a lawn sign in your front yard for all to see!
The Class of 2020 will finish its senior year at home, instead of cruising the halls with friends, attending prom, starring in one final performance or playing in one last game.
Your donation will help fund future innovative classroom grants for St. Louis Park students for years to come.
