Share the Plate:
June's Share the Plate partner is Via Hope: Texas Mental Health Resource, which provides education, training, and consultation to individuals in recovery from mental illness, their family members, and mental health professionals throughout the state of Texas. Reaching out to those on the front lines of mental health, and those suffering, has never been more important than during this time of forced isolation. All designated "share the plate" donations, and half of all undesignated donations, will be given the Via Hope for the month of June.

A Few Words from the Minister...
Don't Sleep Through the Revolution 2020
I have heard a few people express the wish - and I'll acknowledge this longing within myself, too - to just be able to go to sleep right now and wake up "when it's all over."

Special Notices
Just Mercy Film & Discussion
Taking a look at justice and mercy in our flawed judicial systems.
On Sunday, June 28 we will be showing and discussing the film "Just Mercy" via Zoom. The film portrays the true story of Bryan Stevenson working as a lawyer defending those wrongly condemned and those not afforded proper representation. The film exposes the racism inherent in our systems of justice.

If you have not yet seen the film, you can join us at 3:00 to watch it on Zoom. Everyone who has seen the film (on their own or with us) can join us at 7:00 for a facilitated discussion. We will be discussing the film version, so if you have read the book, please watch the film to join our discussion.

Virtual Talent Show Updates
Are you thinking about or practicing your act for the Talent Show?
If you're stuck on what to do for an act, this video by Joel might give you some ideas. In my last article I mentioned submitting your videos to Rev. Joanna, but Joel Bercu has volunteered to receive them and organize them. Send them to jsbercu@hotmail.com by June 19. Performance night for the virtual talent show is Saturday, June 27 at 5 p.m., probably on Zoom. To give credit where it's due, the creative team of Shannon Thorne and Joel Bercu are giving me lots of help for this show! If you have any questions, contact Jen Swan.

We need photos and videos of your pets!
For an upcoming "pet blessing" service, we need your pets. Please email photos and videos to Rev. Joanna. She is also looking for a few people to speak about the importance, and the life lessons they've learned from their furry companions. If you would be willing to contribute a short piece, please email her for details.

Women's Labyrinth Group on Zoom
Sunday, June 14, 6:30-9:00pm
We gather for a sharing circle followed by a finger labyrinth walk. Please join us as we walk the twists and turns of our lives and support each other along the path-the path that "calls us from the center of who we are and who we long to be."   The group is open to women high school age and older. The Zoom link will be sent via email for those who are on the email list for the Women's Labyrinth Group. If you need a copy of the Live Oak Labyrinth and/or the Zoom link, contact: Linda Webster.

Live Oak Trading Post
Meet up here to offer, ask, or trade items
During the past 3 months of quarantine, I have never taken toilet paper, eggs, and toothpaste for granted as much as I have in the last 3 months. I have seen kindness, resourcefulness, and ingenuity when it comes to getting these everyday items. I'm excited to present to you our Live Oak Trading Post. This is where our members who are in need of items small or large, will be able to put it on the list with their preferred contact information. Other members will be able to look at the list and see if these are items that they can supply; or set up a trade for something else. This list is also set up so that if a member has something to offer, that can be put on the list also and just indicate it is being offered. Please take a moment to look at and use the Trading Post. now we don't have to wait for the next Zoom meeting to see if anyone needs anything!

What's Happening This Week
Enriching Connections has become an even more vital part of all that we do. We want to make it as easy for you to stay connected as possible. So we encourage you to add something to your morning routine. As you sip your coffee or tea, go to this link:  http://www.liveoakuu.org/whats-happening-this-week/
It will have the most up-to-date information about connection events. Be sure and save the link! We want to enrich connections, but we are also putting safeguards in place so that we can feel safer when we gather in this way. (But if you have a friend who might want to join, feel free to privately send them the link.)
