Family Resources
for
Child Care, Dependent Care and Camps

Many UCSF families have had to adapt quickly with child and dependent care considerations through the pandemic. The summer months bring new challenges.

Below is a summary of resources that may be helpful for your own unique situation, including brand new offerings developed to assist UCSF families during this unprecedented time, such as an upcoming UCSF on-site summer camp program.
 

Bookmark the UCSF Family Services website for the most current information, as circumstances are likely to change. The site has new Frequently Asked Questions on topics from nannies and babysitters to safety measures.

Time Sensitive :
UCSF’s small summer camp program is accepting applications through Saturday, 6/13 at noon. (deadline extended)

A panel event on making child care decisions during COVID is open to the UCSF community, and will take place on Friday, 6/19 from 12-1pm.

In Home Care
A new Nanny Placement Service is available to assist UCSF families in finding short-term, summer, or long-term nanny care. Receive expert guidance and personalized, hands-on support from a local nanny agency.  Learn more .

Sittercity provides pre-screened resources for in-home, every day or occasional child care, pet care, elder care, housesitting, housekeeping, tutoring, and more. The UCSF community can search for child and elder care. Details can be found on the Sitters and Back-Up Care webpage.

Our revamped Child Care Bulletin Board  enables you to easily look at recommendations for caregivers and connect with other UCSF families seeking share care. 


Center Based Care
UCSF's Child Care Referral Service is available to help the UCSF community identify licensed child care options or summer programs. 


 
Summer Camps
UCSF Summer Camp website : UCSF is offering a small "emergency" summer camp program to assist UCSF employees and students with child care needs for the summer of 2020. This program offers a day camp option for children 6-12 years in age at Parnassus and Mission Bay.
 
A list of summer camps intending to operate this summer is available through our Child Care Referral Service. Please note this information is subject to change; contact the camps directly for availability, costs, and more.
 
A map of summer camps and programs for children and youth ages 5-17 is available through SF Department of Children, Youth & Their Families.


Back Up Care
Previously available only to faculty, residents and clinical fellows, Family Services has opened up  UCSF’s Back-up Care program to all essential on-site employees. Eligible UCSF employees can utilize center-based or in-home care for 20 days per academic year (June 30-July 1).
