General News
Principal's Perspective
Dear Delone Catholic Families,

Since my last update, the Governor's Office has not provided any additional information that would alter the terms of what we can or cannot do with respect to the stay-at-home orders and gatherings outside the home, so, today, I will share just a few internal housekeeping items.

Course Selection and Coursework: Students are again reminded to complete course selection sheets which are due today, May 1.  Please email guidance counselors with alternate class selections.   It is imperative that, in completing the form, one chooses the 'Submit' option located at the bottom of the form. Additionally, remember that Mondays are considered school workdays. Even though no class meetings are scheduled, the time should be used to study, to get caught up on reading, or for assignment completion. Students are also strongly encouraged to attend class meeting sessions during the remainder of the week for further instruction and support.

Spring Sports Registration Fees: All paid spring sport registration fees will be refunded and checks mailed during the week of May 4. Registration fees are not able to be credited towards future sport seasons or tuition. Due to several important Athletic Association fundraisers being cancelled and accrued expenses from the Spring season, sub sales will not be credited towards future sports fees. If you would like to donate your refund to the Athletic Association General Fund, please email Mrs. Kay Hefner at  [email protected]  by Friday, May 1st.

Report Cards: Report cards have been distributed by email.  Be sure to check both sets of parents'/guardians' emails first to verify if it was received. If not, please email Mrs. Donna Tompkins at [email protected] in order to request one.

Works of Mercy Program Due to the unprecedented circumstances facing us, the Works of Mercy Program has been expanded to allow for additional opportunities while students are at home and not able to serve the Church or community. This expansion will allow students to earn Church and/or community Works of Mercy Hours for activities that, in the past, have not qualified for the program, such as personal prayer and helping their immediate family. Please visit the Delone Catholic website for details.

Delone Catholic Day of Giving: We have always known that Delone Catholic graduates are special. Now, more than ever, we are seeing our students and alumni making an impact during this unprecedented time in our history. April 30-May1 has been designated as Delone Catholic's Day of Giving, beginning with a live stream Mass celebrated by Father Morelli in Our Lady Queen of Peace Chapel, followed by the Angelus and crowning of the Blessed Mother at noon on May 1, and ending with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the Adams County "Be the Light" recognition ceremony for our Seniors at 8:20 p.m. We ask for your support on our Day of Giving to ensure that no family is forced to leave our community due to the unexpected financial turmoil caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our goal is to give current and future students the opportunity to make their own #SquireImpact.

May all our lives feel the impact of God's mercy and may we continue to share His blessings.
With prayers for continued good health and internal peace.

Sincerely,

Richard La Rocca
Principal

Day of Giving: Make Your #SquireImpact

On May 1, we are asking our entire community to come together to assist those in need. We will have several opportunities to join in prayerful gratitude for our school family and in asking for healing for all who are affected by the pandemic. Throughout the day, we will post short videos and stories of the #SquireImpact that Delone Catholic has made. We ask you to make a gift to the Delone Catholic Fund on our Day of Giving to ensure that no family is forced to leave our community due to the unexpected financial turmoil caused by the pandemic. Our goal is to give current and future students the opportunity to make their own #SquireImpact. You can make a gift by clicking here.

We are continuing our Highlight a Squire Hero campaign. We will highlight the heroes in our Squire family that are working to battle the coranvirus as they care for the sick, protect the healthy, keep us safe and supply us with supplies, food and other essential services.

Send pictures or selfies of students, alumni, family members and friends that are actively involved in this all-out battle with the coronavirus, so that our Delone Catholic community may pray for them. Send pictures to Mrs. Jennifer Hart at [email protected]. Note that pictures may be posted on Delone Catholic Social Media and/or printed in the school yearbook.

SportsLeader Virtue of the Week
One pillar of the SportsLeader program is a weekly virtue that we incorporate into our athletic practices and throughout our school community. Every week, we will share them here to encourage the students to take the virtue into their homes as well!

Our virtue this week is that of MODERATIONThe strength to remain within reasonable limits and avoid improper excess or extremes.  What are some areas of life where we need to practice MODERATION? (Eating, drinking, driving, use of social media, internet, TV, etc) If we do not live this virtue, our lives can spin out of control very quickly and painfully.
