A Thousand Acts of Kindness

This week began our annual 1,000 Acts of Kindness campaign! Students earn kindness slips for practicing random, small and large acts of kindness. A friendly competition to see who can be the most kind has begun between the elementary, middle, and high school grades.

Holiday Giving Food & Clothing Drive

Our students will be collecting non-perishable food for the Portland Rescue Mission and gently used/new clothing and hygiene supplies for iLoveLakeOswego , a new organization that is run by students for students in our area.

Current Clothing Needs
  • New or gently used clean clothing suitable for any student to wear
  • Hats, gloves, and coats

Thank you very much for assisting Park Academy students in giving to our community members in need. If you know of a student or family that this organization can support, please send that information and we will make sure that they have the love and support they need this winter season.

Items are due in the bin at the front entrance by December 18th and students will be delivering the items before the start of winter break.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you would like to help with any of these opportunities or have any questions, contact Lucy Healey .

Theater Volunteers

Miscellaneous
  • We are also in need one volunteer who can come in every other week at the end of the school day to pick up and drop cans to a nearby bottle drop site.

ASPIRE
ASPIRE is the State of Oregon's mentor program to help students access education and training beyond high school. Park Academy is an ASPIRE school, meaning students in the middle and high school will be involved in a variety of ASPIRE activities this year! Right now, we are recruiting parents and other community members to learn more about the program and consider volunteering! ASPIRE volunteers work in with students in a variety of capacities. Please check out this email from Ms. West and let Ms. Healey know if you are interested! Ms. West and Ms. Healey are currently working on finding dates for the career spotlight. For those that have already reached out about their interest, please stay tuned and thank you for your patience.

Please see this document to find the new lunch order forms. If you pay weekly, please start using these forms. If you have already paid for multiple weeks, Ms. Healey will fill out the new forms.

Inclement Weather
With the weather getting colder and snow in the forecast, we wanted to take the opportunity to remind you about Park Academy's process for closing or delaying school due to inclement weather.

Park Academy tends to follow the Lake Oswego School District (LOSD). If the LOSD is closed, Park Academy is closed. However, due to the difference in elevation in Lake Oswego, if Lake Oswego Schools are delayed, watch your email for a note from Park Academy. We may choose to to close based on the safety of the campus.
Watch for Park Academy on your local news station. Our status will be listed.
