St. Christopher’s Anglican Church Ping Pong Relay
raises $21,800

Finally, we held our Third Ping Pong Relay on November 15. Though we were still not able to play ping-pong in person, we had a successful virtual fundraising event. Thanks to the creativity of our ping pong volunteer instructor Johnny. We played several fun games on zoom and were able to raise an amount beyond our expectation. I want to thank the organizing committee, the players and all the generous sponsors.

On November 15, we had about 26 people on Zoom. 14 parishioners participated ranging from 13 to 88 years old. We introduced the work of the 16 FaithWorks ministry partners. The players asked for pledges ahead of time. We also had people challenging the players and pledged instantly.

To our amazement, at the end of the hour, we managed to surpass our target of $10,000 and last year's record of $19,000. This year we raised a total of $21,800.

We thank God for the participants and sponsors who helped us to raise an amount which exceeded our expectations for FaithWorks. We also pray for all the FaithWorks ministry partners and front-line workers providing valuable services in our communities.

David speaks from The Dam in Mississauga

I started coming to The Dam when I was in grade 9, and now I’m 19. When I was in grade 9, I was going through some tough times. I was in foster care and I am currently aging out of the system and moving out on my own. I have battled with depression. One day some of my good friends said that I should come with them to this place called The Dam.

Walking into The Dam for the first time felt really good; everyone was very welcoming. I immediately knew that I would like it here. Over the years I’ve been here, I’ve learned a lot. The Dam has helped me get out of a number of tough times. Going to the variety of activities and programs has helped me get through my depression. I have grown a lot as a person.

As a result of all the growing and learning I’ve been able to do through The Dam, I was hired at The Dam as part of the Youth Partnership Program. The Dam has been and will likely always be my family. Family isn’t about blood, it’s about the bonds that connect you and about cherishing those bonds.

We're at $70,000
of the
$100,000
Matching Challenge Grant
For PARISHES !!!

Help FaithWorks reach our goal

We are excited to have been offered a Matching Challenge Grant of $100,000 for new or increased donations. The challenge is only for parishes. In other words, for every increased dollar a parish contributes this year to FaithWorks over last years amount, this generous donor will match it with another dollar up to $100,000.

If a parish increases it's contribution to FaithWorks this year over 2019 by $1,000, it becomes $2,000. If a parish's increase is $5,000, it becomes $10,000. If a parish's increase is $10,000, it becomes $20,000, for those most vulnerable and struggling every day.

There are two ways for individuals to participate in this challenge and contribute to their parish's total.

1) An individual can make a donation directly to their parish designated for FaithWorks, as in the past.

2) To make online contributions easier the FaithWorks website has been modified to give credit to a parish for an individual's donation. Simply go to faithworks.ca and follow the instructions to put the parish's name in the Comments section when making a donation.
