Assisting Businesses in Disaster Recovery

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Florida SBDC is helping small businesses survive with additional funding resources like the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

An SBDC consultant can guide you through the application process, including identifying SBA-certified lending institutions and assistance in calculating and maximizing loan forgiveness.

This short-term, potentially-forgivable loan, is available to sole proprietors, independent contractors, self-employed persons and any other small business that retains employees, maintains payroll and uses other allowable operating expenses. Proceeds may also be used for mortgage interest, rent, utilities and interest on pre-existing loans.

The deadline to apply is June 30, 2020, or until funds are expended. APPLY HERE.

Florida SBDC Opportunity Zone Workshop SLATED

You're invited to the first Opportunity Zone workshop of 2020.

Opportunity Zones are an important economic development tool that allows investors to receive tax relief when they put money into qualified projects in certain designated, economically distressed areas.

This workshop is geared towards helping aspiring and existing business owners and investors learn how to leverage and benefit from new investment programs. Expert panelists and presenters will take a deep dive into what Opportunity Zones are, the tax benefits, eligibility requirements, available resources and more.

Opportunity Zones in Florida are designed to stimulate business investment and spur economic development. The benefits of these investments are supercharged by the favorable tax treatment of capital gains. Discuss this and other business opportunities with your SBDC consultant.
