On Tuesday, BIA-LAV was one of two lone voices to oppose the City Council's Vacancy Tax proposal. The Council moved to have the City Attorney draft an ordinance modeled after the City of Oakland's with few modifications. We wont have a new draft to review until later this week. It will then be presented to Council on either June 23rd or the 24th. Read Final Motion here .

LA County RPC Approves By-Right Housing Ordinance

We are supportive of the County's efforts, but hope that the by-right provisions are broadened to other housing types. We will be working on a letter to the Board of Supervisors with our suggestions.
