I want to thank you personally for the enthusiastic response to this year's Annual Appeal. Especially during these times, it is energizing and humbling that so many of you added your generous contributions to your support and good wishes.

This makes me feel that we are like a family. You understand how much can be done with funds when they are applied creatively and intelligently, right there with the people.

With everything your support has allowed us to accomplish, we've attracted the collaboration of local institutions.  Read below for news about these additions to the ICSEE family, one new, one returning.

The Maasai women and men are thrilled with the opportunity to work together to make life better. This local enthusiasm is emerging in an additional way.  Institutions are now joining in.

Organizing to achieve a goal is never an easy task. Institutions often find this a challenge, especially with new programs. Because of that difficulty. they are reaching out to the International Collaborative to benefit from our established relationships.

And they are also sharing their institutional resources to enable us to better serve the people. With this support, they are becoming part of the ICSEE family.

ADRA is the Adventist Development and Relief Agency. Once again they are joining the ICSEE stove and solar program.

Ten years ago, The Maasai Stoves & Solar Project started work with improving the homes of women and children in the Maasai villages. This remains our central focus. The ICSEE Model Four stove is excellent for smoke removal and fuel efficiency. The incredible benefits of bringing electric light to remote rural settings remain profound.

The Seventh Day Adventists are known throughout the world for their help with development.The leaders at the Tanzanian office of ADRA understand that collaboration with the ICSEE can bring benefits quickly and durably. They have raised funds in collaboration with the German Adventists.

With these funds, ICSEE is bringing stoves and strong, 60-watt, home solar electric systems to 100 more Maasai homes in Meserani, Mbuyuni, and Mulimani villages. We will also be working together to bring water sanitation to many families in these villages.

We are always very gratified when this kind of recognition empowers us to bring life improvements to more people through productive collaborations.

The Nature Conservancy is an international organization active in Tanzania helping Rift Valley cattlemen make the necessary adaptations to changing climate conditions.They have joined in our work at the ICSEE Manyara Feedlot.

They will fund the expansion of facilities for feeding and watering 100 more cows. These places will be reserved for the use of the cattlemen working with the Nature Conservancy, but available to others when not in use by the Conservancy clients..

This collaboration enlarges the Feedlot, established In 2017 with its three-fold purpose:

With the change in climate, cattle raising practices also need to change. Maasai herders can learn sustaining adaptations at the Manyara Feedlot.

With increased human population and cattle herd size, grasslands are under greater pressure. The men have to adopt an updated approach to raising cattle. To sustain their herds, they must sell regularly and keep herd sizes under control.

Rift Valley herders can bring cows to the Feedlot for three months to ensure that the cattle do not lose weight and value when grass is scarce. This means the cattle cared for at the feedlot can still be sold at good prices, even after periods of drought.

With every phase of our work, providing good earning opportunities is an ongoing goal for the International Collaborative. Caring for the resident cattle at the Feedlot is a good job for young men who do not yet have their own herd.
