2020-21 Important Back-to-School Information
Recently, we have distributed a variety of information related to the safe reopening of School during the pandemic. While this is extremely important, it doesn't detract from the need for the start-of-School information families need in any year. Below, please find some important updates, reminders, and information related to the start of School. We look forward to seeing Bearcats on campus the week after next!
Reopening Updates You may find it useful to refer to this Reopening PDF, which summarizes a variety of important reopening information. Please continue to refer to the Reopening webpage for information about the School's expectations and plans for your student's arrival on campus, including a list of names and contact information for those with last-minute questions.

Don't Forget: Please Complete the New Telehealth Consent Form
As noted in the August 18 email " Parent Action Required: Healthcare Updates & Life on-Campus During Quarantine," in order for us to provide telehealth care to your child/children, parents must complete this consent form. Completed telehealth consent forms should be scanned and uploaded to the Health Center Portal by August 24.

It's Time to Order Textbooks
New and used books are available through the Campus Store and our bookseller, Higher Learning Supply Company. Books may be purchased online. After the quarantine period, students may order books in person at the Campus Store.
Campus Store Availability During Quarantine
Students will be unable to visit the Campus Store during the quarantine period. Those who ordered books will receive information on book distribution. During the quarantine period, students will be able to order supplies from the online store or by calling the store directly and arranging for delivery through campus mail.

Important Student Bank Changes to Note
In order to reduce close contact and avoid congregation in the Main Building, the Student Bank window will be closed and staffed remotely this year. Student OneCards will be delivered to students during Opening Days. Please note that students will not be able to make in-person deposits to or withdrawls from their OneCards this year; instead, families must either make online deposits or send in a check. All on-campus student services will accept OneCards or credit cards including the Campus Store, Post Office, and Snack Bar. There is no charge to use the laundry machines.
Students Will Need Personal ATM Card to Access Cash There is no need for students to bring cash to campus as it will not be accepted for payment at most on-campus locations. There are two ATMs on campus if cash is needed, but they do not accept the OneCard, so students are encouraged to bring an ATM card from their personal bank.
Contact the Student Bank at (860) 435-3165 for further information.

Plan Ahead: Student Laundry Options
All students have access to free laundry machines on campus, but students need to provide their own laundry supplies (soap, dryer sheets, etc.).
An optional laundry and dry cleaning service, E&R (The Campus Laundry), is also available. Please note there is a fee for this privately arranged service.

How to Ship Items to Campus
If you are shipping items or supplies to campus, please send packages as soon as possible. We will do our best to have these items delivered to their respective students' rooms prior to their arrival. As a reminder, no furniture other than a desk chair (e.g., couches, bean bags, rugs, etc.) is allowed.
After Opening Days and quarantine, any shipped parcel or package will be available for student pick-up at the Hotchkiss Post Office. We accept packages sent via all common carriers (e.g., U.S. mail, UPS, FedEx, DHL). Please send mail and packages to students (using their legal name if possible) at this address:
Student's Name (first and last) The Hotchkiss School 11 Interlaken Road Lakeville, CT 06039
Please remember to pay all shipping charges in advance, as Hotchkiss will not accept any cash on delivery (C.O.D.) packages.

Reminder for Students with Storage in the MAC
In the coming weeks, your items will be moved to your new dorm room with the exception of large furniture items that are not permitted on campus this year. Examples of such large items include: sofas, large rugs, bean bag chairs, futons. Desk chairs are still permitted.
We are asking all families with large belongings to let us know if you will: collect them in-person on drop-off day; arrange for them to be shipped at your expense; or grant permission for donation to a local charity. All items must be removed from campus by September 15.

Revised Testing Guidelines: August 29 SAT
As communicated earlier today to upper mids and seniors, in the interest of safety and minimizing the risk of introducing the virus to campus, seniors are being asked not to sit for the August 29 test date. Instead, please register for the September 23 and October 14 dates.
Testing Coordinator Laurie Grusauski sent information about signing up for these test dates directly to students on August 4 and August 14. If you have not already registered, you have until the late deadline of August 23 to do so. Please refer to Ms. Grusauski's emails, and contact her directly if you need additional information. If you are unable to sign up by August 23, please be sure to notify her. She will order extra tests to account for students who could not register by the deadline.
Upper mids may use December as their first SAT testing opportunity.
