FINANCIAL AID FOR SENIORS
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open!!  For information on how to fill out the application click on the link below:
Also look for Federal Student Aid on YouTube for helpful videos.

The first step in completing a FAFSA is to obtain a username and password called a Federal Student Aid ID (FSA ID). Every student must have an FSA ID in order to begin the FAFSA. If a parent has not completed a FAFSA before, the parent who will be completing the parent financial portion of the FAFSA will need to create an FSA ID. It may take up to 24 hours for the ID to be active so you can create your ID now and you will be ready to start your FAFSA on/after October 1st.
Follow the link to start your FSA ID:   https://fsaid.ed.gov/npas/index.htm

FAFSA Helpful Hints
If you are filling out financial aid forms for a student entering college next year, make sure you chose 2022-2023 as the school year.
To avoid complications, the student should begin the FAFSA form, not the parent. When prompted, the parent will log into the FAFSA form and complete the parent portion.
·         Colleges have reported that there is less confusion if the student name and address match exactly with the FAFSA application, the college application, and the student school records (Aeries information). Abbreviations like RPV instead of Rancho Palos Verdes can cause errors in matching records.
Colleges have unique deadlines for financial aid and scholarships, make sure to check out the Financial Aid tab on each school's website.
The deadline to submit a FAFSA is different in every state. For California public colleges/universities it is March 2, 2021. For out of state colleges/universities, make sure to check out their Financial Aid pages to find their deadlines.

We hope you will join us on October 5th for our College Knowledge Financial Aid: How to Complete the FAFSA workshop. To register for the event go to the CCC website (pvphs.net/CollegeCareerCenter) choose 2021 Virtual College Knowledge Series from the menu on the right and scroll to the event.

CSS PROFILE
Are you planning to apply for financial aid at a private college? If so, you need to know what the CSS Profile is, when it is due, and who requires it. For help with the CSS Profile visit HERE or Khan Academy.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Make sure to check the admission pages, financial aid pages, and department pages on college websites for deadlines for scholarships as well as financial aid. Early Action applications often have very early deadlines for financial aid and scholarships.
