$35M FOR WATTS
The large-scale redevelopment of Jordan Downs received a major boost this month under a $35M HUD Choice Neighborhoods Implementation (CNI) grant awarded to the Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles. "Receiving a CNI award for Jordan Downs is wonderful for the partnership teams, but more importantly for the community," said Cynthia A. Parker, BRIDGE President & CEO. "It will allow us to forge ahead with two new phases of affordable housing, and to assist our residents and the broader Watts community." Pictured above: the CNI team on the day of the HUD interview.

CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES
Work is ongoing at BRIDGE's 11 active construction sites, which are operating at approximately 85% capacity, given social distancing and other pandemic-related constraints. Songbird, pictured above, is currently 75% complete. Located in the Eliot neighborhood of N/NE Portland, it will serve very low- and low-income families, with priority given to displaced residents and people who are at risk of displacement.

1101 CONNECTICUT AWARDED LEED PLATINUM
In San Francisco, BRIDGE's 1101 Connecticut has been awarded LEED Platinum, a globally recognized symbol of excellence in green building. The property, which offers 72 affordable apartments for families, was the first to be completed as part of the HOPE SF Potrero Hill Master Plan. It achieved LEED certification for implementing practical solutions in areas including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality-all factors that make the building a healthy, more sustainable home for residents.

DELPHINE SHERMAN NAMED EVP AND CFO
On April 6, BRIDGE was delighted to welcome Delphine Sherman onboard as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Sherman previously was the CFO for the Haas School of Business, University of California at Berkeley, a top public business school with $160 million in annual revenues and a $350 million endowment. Prior to Haas, she served as the CFO of Aspire Public Schools, a nonprofit charter management organization serving 16,000 students in low-income communities.

KEY STEP FORWARD FOR BALBOA RESERVOIR
San Francisco Board of Supervisors President Norman Yee this week introduced legislation to initiate the City review process for development of the 17-acre Balboa Reservoir site. The development team, led by BRIDGE and AvalonBay Communities, is planning 1,100 new homes, 50% of which will be affordable for low- and moderate-income families, along with a host of community benefits. "This is an incredible project on the west side of town, and we need more like it if we are going to make San Francisco affordable for everyone," said Mayor London N. Breed.
