Greetings!

We can all agree that this is a time like no other! Daily we attempt to find clarity and understanding in what the coming weeks, months and even the entire year may look like, and still we just do not know. One thing is for certain…The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him. Nahum 1:7
After conferring with the Santa Cruz County Health department, we are deeply saddened and disappointed to announce that we must cancel Wild Faith, Adventure Camp and close Daybreak Camp for the entire summer.

The requirements for holding events such as summer camp are going to be too onerous, if not impossible, for us to carry out and Santa Cruz County wants to limit the number of people coming in from out of the area.

In July Health Services will let us know the feasibility of Family Camp and Fall retreats.
The safety of our campers and volunteers is of utmost importance to us. The spiritual growth and closeness to God that we all experience at camp is the reason we exist. We are going to miss all the wonderful experiences and new faces that God was sending our way this year.
Of course, we believe God did not send the Covid-19 virus, yet we believe He is in the journey we are experiencing. We also believe He will see us through this, however, His desire is that we will be changed through our circumstances, to be closer to Him and more like Christ. As one of our neighbors said to us
“I feel like I’m sheltering in grace”

We have no plans to let the facility lay dormant in fact quite the opposite, we will use this time to complete many projects and up grade where we can with the materials we have on site and hope to realize a few small work parties when the time is right.
Our greatest concern is the economic impact on the camp, it is going to be very serious in our near future. Daybreak will realize a loss of revenue in excess of $260,000.

Our reserves and the generosity of many donors this past month has been a blessing and very encouraging. We have trimmed our budget as tight as possible. Our minimal monthly expenses (utilities, payroll, insurance etc.) are just under $20,000.

We have obtained a Payroll Protection Plan loan from the Small Business Administration. This loan will turn into a grant as we use it for payroll and related items. This will allow us to pay staff their full salaries, hourly wages and benefits until the end of June. After that time, we are expecting to take a 50% reduction in salaries to maintain our cash flow.

Your prayers, notes of encouragement and financial support breath life into this ministry that encourages a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us , were here!

We look forward to being with you again, until then may your sheltering in place be filled with grace!
