Survey: Impact of COVID-19 on Nevada Child Care Providers
The CAA is looking for the input of child care providers in Nevada. The intent of this survey is to understand from the child care provider perspective how COVID-19 (Coronavirus) has impacted and is continuing to impact child care providers in the State of Nevada. Your answers will be used to help advocate and inform policymakers in the state on the impact COVID-19 has had on child care providers and make recommendations on how better to serve the child care provider community.
Participation in this survey is 100% voluntary. You may stop at any time. We appreciate you taking the time to answer this survey so we can better advocate for your needs. This survey should take no more than 15 minutes to answer.
The results from the first Child Care Provider survey released by CAA was used to inform such efforts in the state as:
- CARES Act Grants
- Emergency Stipends
- Strengthening Business Practices Trainings.

Navigating summertime experiences in 2020: Helpful resources and support for program providers
In a typical summer, the demand for structured summertime experiences far outweighs the availability. For youth who experience poverty or who live in rural areas, issues of access are even greater. This year, when coronavirus has significantly affected our daily lives, summertime programming is a question mark for both families and program providers. In the midst of this year’s challenges, here are some resources for those who intend to provide summertime programs in-person, online, or in a digital format.

Getting support for summer learning:
How federal, state, city, and district policies
affect summer learning programs
This report offers information on public policies that support, or constrain, summer learning efforts—and guidance to organizers of such efforts to help them secure and maintain support for their programs. The report draws on the experiences of five urban school districts that, along with community partners, took part in the National Summer Learning Project, a multi-year initiative sponsored by The Wallace Foundation, to understand whether and how voluntary district-run summer learning programs can help promote students’ success in school.

Helping Students Grieve from a Distance
Phillip Perry was a principal who lived and breathed his school. He attended every ballgame and pep rally at G.W. Carver Middle School. And when his colleague, Karen Hassell, would visit his building, she radioed for Perry because he was never in his office—preferring to be in the classrooms and hallways with students. Perry died March 31 of COVID-19 at age 49. His decline was swift, catching students and teachers at the Waco, Texas, school off guard. Now Carver, like dozens of schools across the country, is grappling with how to help students not only say goodbye to beloved educators, but also to conceptualize the loss.
