Roadwork Switches to NB Side on Rt. 53/Old Hicks Road
Traffic delays continue on Old Hicks Road/Rt. 53 for the ongoing pavement and widening project, which includes storm sewer drainage improvements that have now been completed. Delays will continue as the Illinois Department of Transportation switches its work to the north side of the road, which will cause traffic to switch to the other side of the pavement. Excavation and road widening will continue until the end of the construction season in November, weather-permitting. This is the second and final stage of this project. Landscaping work and final cleanup will be completed in the spring of 2020. Questions pertaining to this project can be directed to the IDOT Project Manager Jonathan Schumacher at 847-705-4260 or Jonathan.Schumacher@illinois.gov.
IN THIS ISSUE

The Annual Long Grove Turkey Trot will take place the morning of Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28th. On the Friday prior to the event (November 22nd) signs will be posted along the route and large changeable message signs located at the major intersections providing advance notice of road closures and heavy traffic impacts. Road closures on the day of the event will occur between 8:40 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Motorists in the area can expect heavy traffic delays prior to and during the event. Asphalt Resurfacing on Rt. 22 Continues

Pavement work continues on Route 22 between Quentin Road and Route 83. Roadwork begins daily at 7:00 a.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m. and motorists are advised to utilize detours. The project is expected to be completed by the end of the construction season, weather-permitting. This work precedes the planned widening of Route 22 by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT), and is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2020. The Village will be hosting a public information meeting with IDOT in January of 2020 to provide further information to the public on this project. The Village continues to work to minimize the impact on adjoining properties and heavily wooded areas that are part of the original "Long Grove" woods the Village is named after. The Village recently hired a landscape architect to assist in envisioning, protecting and enhancing the Route 22 corridor once the construction has been completed. Landscaping plans will be available for review and input at the public meeting. Further information will be provided in upcoming Enews and print communications.
