Alive After Five means Fun for Music Fans & Fundraising for Nonprofits
May 14, 2018

When Alive After Five, Presented by Delta Air Lines, returns to The Grove Plaza June 6, staffing the beverage booths will be volunteers from the Women's and Children's Alliance.

Through the Tips for Charity program, the WCA will benefit from all beverage tips collected the month of June. Tips collected in July benefit CATCH,Inc., Charitable Assistance to Community's Homeless, and tips donated the month of August benefit the Boise Fire Local 149 Burnout Fund.

"The Tips for Charity program is a big part of Alive After Five and something the members and merchants of the Downtown Boise Association are proud to be part of," said Lynn Hightower, Executive Director of the Downtown Boise Association. DBA staff produces Alive After Five.

"Alive After Five is a great event that truly builds community. Enjoying great live music while giving back to organizations that provide needed services makes Alive After Five an even greater event to be part of."

In 2017, Alive After Five gave back more than $18,000, the largest amount ever raised in the Tips for Charity program.

About the Women's and Children's Alliance, the June beneficiary of Tips for Charity from Alive After Five:
The WCA benefits from beverage tips as their volunteers assist Alive After Five the month of June. For more than 30 years, the Women's & Children's Alliance has been at the forefront of providing services to women, men and their children healing from domestic abuse and sexual assault. Since its founding, the WCA's crisis program has evolved into one of the most vital, unduplicated, comprehensive programs in our community and region. The WCA is proud to be a community leader in providing these critically needed services.

About CATCH, Inc, the July beneficiary of the Alive After Five Tips for Charity program:
The vision of CATCH, Inc. is to end homelessness for families by inspiring stable housing, financial independence, and resilience. Founded in 2006, CATCH is a leader and innovator in housing the most vulnerable in the Treasure Valley. CATCH collaborates with community partners and uses proven, intentional methods like Housing First, because every family and every person deserves a home.

About the Boise Fire Local 149 Burnout Fund, Alive After Five's August volunteers and beneficiary of Tips for Charity:
Many years ago, the Boise Firefighters Union recognized the need for assisting families and individuals with the overwhelming task of dealing with the aftermath of a house fire and other disasters that firefighters respond to. To address this need, the Boise Firefighters Union organized The Boise Firefighters Burnout Fund in 1964. Burnout representatives respond to provide victims with resources for their urgent food, shelter and clothing needs. The organization donates to families, so they can get essential shelter, food and clothing. In 2017, the Boise Firefighters Burnout Fund assisted 58 individuals and families and paid out $24,000 to victims.
