FREE MEALS FOR KIDS & TEENS
—NEW OPTIONS NOW AVAILABLE!
Nutrition Services has partnered with the BSD Transportation Department to expand meal services options for children during the school closure.
Families now have two options: Curbside Pick-Up or Preorder.
Curbside Pick-Up:
Families do not need to place a pre-order.
Kids ages 18 and younger can drop by any one of three locations—Sammamish High School, Lake Hills
Elementary School, and Stevenson Elementary School—to access a meal for curbside service.

Preorder for Pick-Up at Selected Neighborhood Locations:
Families can now preorder lunch for their children using our simple online order form. Meals will be delivered by BSD bus drivers to your choice of 31 locations around the district.
Meals must be preordered each day between 6:00 PM and 9:00 AM.

For both our Curbside or Preorder programs:
- Free lunch is available for kids & teens, ages 18 and younger
- A free breakfast (vegetarian) will be provided with each lunch
- Children do not need to be enrolled in the Bellevue School District to receive a meal
- Please follow safe social distance guidelines if a line forms at any of the pickup locations

ATTENTION AP STUDENTS AND FAMILIES:
This is a summary of the information that the College Board has shared regarding their current plans for the 2020 AP Exams:
- Students may take a 45-minute online exam at home.
- For each AP subject, there will be two testing dates.
- The exam will only include topics and skills most teachers already covered in class by early March. (For decades, colleges have accepted a shortened AP Exam for college credit when groups of students have experienced emergencies.)
- The specific test dates and the free-response questions types will be posted by April 3, 2020.
- Beginning on March 25, students and schools will have access to free, live AP review lessons.
- The College Board has not provided any information regarding how they will support students who have testing accommodations; we have been informed that there will be more information provided on April 3, 2020.
- Logistics:
- Students may test on any device they have access to—computer, tablet, or smartphone.
- There is flexibility for students with technology challenges to ensure that they have the tools and connectivity they need. Click here to contact the College Board directly.
- Students are highly encouraged to take the test but can choose to cancel the test at no charge.
We are encouraging all students who have registered for an AP Exam to proceed with their plans to take it. We are committed to supporting students through the AP Exam process. We will continue to provide an update after April 3, 2020 and as needed moving forward. Please send any questions to

EBOOKS AVAILABLE!
Dear parents and students,
I’m so excited to introduce to you our new library digital collection. To meet with the demands for digital materials, we now have more than 70 fiction and graphic novel eBooks in our Destiny library.

DONATE TO BELLEVUE SCHOOLS FOUNDATION AND HELP BELLEVUE STUDENTS IN NEED
This week, Superintendent Dr. Duran asked the Bellevue Schools Foundation to raise funds to meet our students’ emergency needs. Your donations to the Bellevue Schools Foundation will go directly to providing food security and other vital services to our most vulnerable students and families during this time.
In addition, the Foundation's investments this past year have helped train school counselors who are now providing virtual and phone counseling to large numbers of middle and high school students experiencing anxiety and depression, further securing their emotional and physical safety during this turbulent time.
Any amount you give helps.
In addition, Angel Donors have stepped up to offer a matching pool for donations of $1,000 and above. Your $1,000 contributions will be
doubled
thanks to their generosity.
We are in uncharted waters. The District and local agencies are strained to cover the large numbers of students now needing to have their basic physical, emotional, and educational needs met. Your unrestricted donation allows for flexibility in this unprecedented time.
For as long as the COVID-19 crisis goes on, we will continue to work with the Bellevue School District to help ALL our students, including our most vulnerable children, get through it.

ADDITIONAL COMMUNITY SUPPORT OPPORTUNITIES ADDED FROM SCHOOL COUNSELOR ARTY CHRISTIANTO
Dear IS Families,
I am writing to you as a BSD parent and an IS community member, not as a school counselor. Many of you have asked how you can support our local Bellevue community during these times. Thank you! Your hearts are so big and open and I’m so glad to be a part of our community.
As a family services contact for IS (I bet many of you did not know I also play that role), one of the organizations that has played a major role in our school district’s ability to support families is Bellevue LifeSpring. Even before our current situation, Bellevue LifeSpring has provided our families with:
- Food bags and supermarket vouchers during school breaks
- Financial aid for summer school credit recovery
- Assistance with rent and utilities
Thank you, as always, for your generosity and support.
Additionally,
there are so many amazing efforts happening around our local community and King County. Here are other ways to support and donate:
- Bellevue Schools Foundation—your donations will go directly to providing food security and other vital services to our most vulnerable students and families. Their annual Spring for Schools luncheon is now an online fundraising campaign. You may donate and learn more about their amazing work by clicking here.
- King County Regional Donations Connector—this is a new website developed by King County to connect people and organizations with needs in the county. - S 2499—Elementary and Secondary School Counseling Act: This bill directs the Department of Education to award grants to state educational agencies to support school-based, mental-health-services providers at public elementary and secondary schools.

- We encourage submissions that align with our mission.
- Submissions are subject to review by the ISPTSA and may be accepted, rejected, or edited.
- Please use a separate email for each article submitted.
- Documents in plain text are preferred, however, you are welcome to include an image or icon as a separate attachment—please do not include them in the body of your email or document.
- If you need to link to a registration form or document, send us either the address of the link or a pdf copy of the document.
- If you would like your article to repeat in successive Monday Messenger editions, please resubmit it for each edition in which you would like it to appear. If you do not resubmit it, it will not be republished.
